It's either a Driver error or bad RAM.
You can check your RAM with http://www.memtest.org
I think u might be right about the drivers though. It only happened after i installed the driver for the AMDA00 Interface.
I had a unknown device in Device Manager, so i put my motherboard disc in & went to the Unknown Device , Right-Clicked to open properties, clicked the Driver tab, clicked Update Driver, & chose Browse my computer.
The Device Manager says it's working properly though, so i'm quite confused.
Only my GPU is AMD (Gigabyte R9 270X 2GB). My CPU is Intel (i7 4770K).
I checked Windows for updates & it says no updates.
I have now updated my GPU Drivers.
Hopefully that will solve the problem.
Age of Wonders 3 has now stopped working. I get the launcher but then when i click play nothing happens, & then Steam sync's as if i've stopped playing.
Looked around a bit, & maybe i have DirectX problems ?? :(
I tried to run the Dx Installer but it gives an error & won't install.
Should i just re-install Windows & start again ? I only just did a clean install maybe 2weeks ago at the most, because i got a new 500GB SSD. So i'm not keen to have to do it again, especially because of too many writes. It says in Samsung Magician that i've written 0.66TB but isn't that 600GB. I've only got 27GB of used space & 47GB for overprovisioning.
As you can tell, i might be in over my head. I'm not really sure why i've been having these problems.
I don't know what that "AMD" device was, but since u have Intel CPU then u do not have AMD Motherboard Chipset.
Ensure u update the following:
- Windows Updates (the optional ones too that are for the OS critical parts)
- Intel Chipset Drivers from http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect
- AMD GPU Drivers 14.12 from http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+8.1+-+64
- DirectX Runtimes (Full Redist Package June 2010)
- Visual C++ Runtimes (2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013; both x86 and x64 versions of each)
- dot-NET Framework 4.5xx
Any troubled Steam games, go to Properties for it in Steam Library > Properties > Local Files > Verify
When u run installers, ensure u are running as an Admin when doing so.
Verify the OS Core/Kernel Files using Command Prompt (as an Admin) and running SFC /SCANNOW
Verify your Drive(s) using Command Prompt (as an Admin) and running CHKDSK /F
Monitor your temps for CPU & GPU and ensure they are within safe limits. As an overheating GPU could easily result in BSoD but then the blue screen error may point to a Driver Fault, due in part to the overheat, causing the GPU Driver to then fail, stop responding.
That is what "Admin" is for.
If that DX Installer fails, download it here.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Also make sure u have installed "Platform Update (KB2670838)" via Windows Updates.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36805
I also ran the DxDiag & DxDiag64 & got no errors in both.
Just checked & i already have "Platform Update (KB2670838)" installed.
I'll try the DX Installer again.
