G-sync monitor. (AOC G2460PG) "No signal"
So I paid £400+ for this monitor. I atleast expected it to work. NOPE! Instead I'm greeted with a message "No signal". As it refuses to come out of standby mode. What is wrong exactly?
I have a GTX 660. All the cables are working fine. BUT. I did have to use a hdmi to displayport adapter. Since.. I don't have a female port. It came with a CD which says "Monitor Driver and user manual." But to be really honest, looking at it on my laptop. It says to install it with the monitor ACTUALLY RUNNING. So yeah. Can anyone cure my anger right now by giving me a solution to this? Or am I stuck with a huge gaping hole in my wallet?

From what I can gather, that monitor only has a Displayport input? Does your video card have a Displayport output? If so, get a Displayport cable.

I read somewhere that you cant change hdmi output to displayport input. Won't work.

You must use displayport output on your gpu.

You can, but I've never tried it.

Ahh yeah, an active adapter is the only one that works i think, it requires to be plugged into power too, unlike regular adapters.

And super expensive.

Why any adapter? This model of display offers DVI, HDMI and DP
Use a direct cable from display to GTX 660 for that of which your GPU has. Idealy DVI or DP would be best.

Actually, it's only got displayport, just like most g-sync monitors. But his gpu should have displayport output so he just needs a displayport cable.

You need to use a display port cable.

That's the thing. I have an active DisplayPort to HDMI converter. Still. No signal. But the thing is. My PC does not actually have a DisplayPort female port. So I'm kinda forced.

your using the dp -> hdmi adapter on the monitor?
thats backwards from the way its designed to work

Monitor -> DP -> HDMI -> PC. That's how the setup is.

I'm honestly not sure if a G-Sync monitor will work with a HDMI-to-DP adapter. They're supposed to be DP only. A DP adapter wouldn't provide whatever special information G-Sync requires and I'm not sure if the monitor will work without it.

Are you sure your 660 doesn't have DisplayPort? Every 660 I've seen has one; it's part of the reference design. A manufacturer would have had to specifically remove the port.

Well. I'm not very good with PC's myself. So opening up my PC would be a worry for me. But the back of my PC has no such thing of a DP female port.

G-Sync needs DisplayPort to work. And even if you could get a signal through HDMI, you would be limited to 60 Hz.

Makes sense. So what should I do then?
rotNdude 27/fev./2015 às 8:21
Where did you get this HDMI to DP adapter?
