lower windows volume = lower bitrate still true in windows 10? does it matter for gaming?
I just bought a good pair of speakers for music and I read to raise windows volume to 100 and adjust the speakers' volume because lowering windows sound for soem reason lowers the quality of the audio, does this apply to gaming I have gamecon 780's and I normally max or don't touch game volumes and adjust with windows volume, this is where I say I don't think it sounds bad and you say then why'd you make this thread stupid or hpoefully someone explains what's up if they know what's up and I can have peace of mind that I'm not causing my ears any damage that I might not know about, I sure hope it doesn't matter though because my headset got a volume thing on it that controls windows' volume and ugh whatever I hate technology thanks for any and all replies

It applies to any operating system. In an audio chain, like PC -> DAC -> amplifier -> speakers, the last link should control the volume and all others should have the volume on max. If your gamecon's have a control volume, use that. The reason why don't notice a difference is because a) there isn't a lot of it and b) you're using a gaming headset, not a set of 80,000$ speakers that let you hear every tiny detail. Don't worry about it. And no, it won't cause any ear damage - high volume does that, not where you control the volume.

windows 7-8 use linear taper (not audio tapver / log scale) to control volumes

best to keep all volumes at 100% and use a reciever to control the volume

if you need to use the pc to mix sound sources, good luck
