What's your current specs before u get into upgrade talk.
As with the FX series CPUs, u need a decent 970 or 990FX Mobo (990 especially for FX-8) to make such a jump.

You have FM2/FM2+ socket Motherboard which FX series CPUs are not compatible with. Those require AM3+ socket Motherboard, such as ones with 970 or 990FX AMD Chipset.

Is the AMD Radeon HD 7540D the only GPU? Or is there a dedicated GPU (Video Card) installed in that system? As a dedicated GPU would be quite helpful.

If you need CPU upgrade, then I would suggest an FM2+ A10 series of CPU.
But you will need to ensure you have the latest BIOS Update as well before changing CPUs.

Here are the details for your Motherboard and it's overall support:

You can't move to the FX-8320 without getting a new motherboard. The A6 uses socket FM2 and the FX is on AM3+. If you already knew this, great.

As for the CPU move, you'd be going from a Dual-core to an Octo-core. You'd see a great improvement over any program that utilize all them cores.

Then in terms of gaming performance, sure a better CPU will be very helpful, but so will a dedicated GPU.

What Power Supply do you have (brand+model) -or- do you know the specs, or perhaps can just link to it.

The 860K is a decent enough low-budget CPU that packs a decent punch. On-par with FX-6300 in terms of CPU power.

860K does not have an onboard GPU, so a dedicated one will be required here.

EDIT:
CX-500, then you are pretty much limited to a 95W CPU + R9 270 series.
As a higher AMD GPU would push that PSU too much.
