I am guessing u used "Winrar.com"? Which BTW has a disclaimer; and the installer should provide options.

The disclaimer on the WinRar site states:

WinRAR.com downloader uses a smart installer that will manage the installation of your selected software. In addition to managing the installation of your selected software, the installer will make recommendations for additional free software that you may be interested in. Additional software may include toolbars, browser add-ons, game applications, anti-virus applications, and other types of applications. You are not required to install any additional software to receive your selected software. You can completely remove the program at any time in Windows' Add/Remove Programs.

All of the included apps should be available to uninstall from Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Next time, any time u install something look for a check box on the website where u can often opt-out of any included bloat-ware. Or during an installer, never choose Express or Full; but choose Custom instead.

Although this is the first I am seeing this "winrar.com" website; as the official one is actually here > http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm < and does not include any bloat-ware installer.

Why not use 7-Zip then instead?

Yes, 7-Zip is just as good and handles the same sorts of files; mainly ZIP, RAR, 7z and also other common types. 7-Zip is also completely free, no strings attached and does the job.

+1 - 7-zip will deal with ISO files as well as the standard rar/zip files. It's a great bit of freeware and has a context menu that most other compressionwares come with.

Yes, all-around great piece of free software. For WinRAR or WinZIP to be an effective/useful tool, u'd have to pay for it.

7-Zip and J-Zip are two good options.
