get a new hdd

or test with hdtune
http://www.hdtune.com/

run the basic bench, see how the read speeds are
and look at the health tab (smart table)
if pending sectors or reallocated sector data value are more than 0 its going bad

Post your computer specs, the make/model of drive, how it's connected, and what your BIOS settings are for drives.

Okay. I use the ti for PhysX but most of the time everything runs fine.

Here is the new 1TB HDD

Old HDD

And this is my main concern.

Should the read and write speed be that low?

Edit- Its jumping from 10kb 272kb

You sure you have your drives connected to the Intel SATA ports?
Many motherboard may have 3rd party chipsets on some of the ports.

Did u install your OS fresh on the new WD Blue 1TB and ensure u have all your drivers installed? Such as for SATA and Intel Chipset?

What are u doing these read/write speed tests with?

I suggest doing them with this:

The OS was installed brand new like 5 weeks ago and the only other sata connection was too the Disk Drive. I will also do that test.

Here are the screens from that program.

OS is on that super slow 80GB; that's you're issue here.

Those old 80GB Caviar SE drives are no better than an old IDE drive.

Try installing your OS to the 1TB drive. If you purpose of the 1TB was for your games and files, then I'd suggest replacing the 80GB HDD with an SSD, and installing OS to an SSD.

So nothing is wrong with the 1TB hdd? The Windows drive is causing the slowdowns?

Try other benches and see what all u get.

Overall, having the OS on that 80GB will slow down the entire system.

So will buying an SSD or a newer HDD fix most of my speed problems?

Ensure firstly that your drives are error-free by using the Diagnostic Tools from WDC

Well both quick test's passed, but doing full tests now.

Also be sure and do the SMART tests, those are seperate and can usually be fairly quick to identify any short-comings. But yes if the basic quick tests pass, ensure the long/advanced ones do to.
