120GB Patriot Blaze Solid State Drive
Is this any good?

It's $60, available locally.

I'm not really willing to spend more than that and I don't need more than windows 7 and CS:GO on it.

120 GB should be fine for OS and one game. I ran my 120 gb with 30 gb spare with two games and my OS and some programs.

I'm not even using the full 34gb I have for windows 7 so I could probably get away with a 60gb, but I figure why not spend maybe $20 more and get twice the space...saw a guy on CL selling a 60gb for $60...what a joke.

That drive should be fine for your intended use. If you haven't used an SSD before, make sure to turn off defrag and trim it every once in a while under Windows 7. You can always have a mechanical disk for storing larger files.

Windows 7 should automatically run TRIM while the computer is idle. Defrag is automatically off too. Win 7 automatically defrags regularly disks. I've had Windows 7 for two year now and my mech drives are 0% fragmented and I've never run defrag. Defrag has also never run on my SSDs.

How much better is that than the $60 at frys SDD I linked?

read the review at tomshardware. if you believe in tom, choose an ssd brand which has high ratings and is within your budget.

else buy the brand available.

That doesn't really answer my question

tech review sites analyze competing products usually providing advantages/disadvantages/conclusions.

ordinary users such as us must choose sides: to believe in them and buy the products they recommended or not.
since you are the buyer, believe in tomshardware (or any other site) or not. the choice is yours.

Yes the drive you found is good. For about $30 more you can go to 256GB. 120GB will do you for OS and drivers if you are frugal and make sure to install everything else on HDD.

I know but I don't need that much. I also need to upgrade GPU as well

Don't go below 90GB. As it is not just the OS u want there, but other crucial parts of the OS will be there, plus it will help to have your game clients and frequently used tools and such apps there.

120 - 250 GB are cheap nowa days.

I'm going to try this $60 SSD out and see how it does.

Like I said, I'm only on a readycache 32gb which I can't even control what goes on it. I'm sure this thing is going to be great for a first timer.

Just wanted to comment in case anyone else finds this thread looking at a blaze SSD. I actually HAVE one (240gB) and since it's so hard to find info/reviews on them for some reason I thought I'd post here.

So far, I am very happy with the drive. Had some issues early on that were fixed by replacing with a new SATA cable. Performance of the drive is great IMO, it's obviously not gonna be that of a high end drive but it is fast enough for my use. Booting Win7 + Hackintosh OS X off drive in less than 10 seconds. Will update this if any issues arise but so far I am happy with a nice budget SSD with good storage/price ratio from what I have seen as a reputable memory company in the past.
