Logitech lx3 - too fast

I have a logitech lx3 I bought from goodwill for $2 and I never bothered to try it out until right now. It's a lot faster than my logitech m-uv55a. Is this because the sensor has more DPI or something? Or do I need to install a program to turn the speed down? It seems to only do it if I move it fast, but I would like the movement to be even no matter how fast I move the mouse. (Meaning, I want it to move 2 pixels when I move the mouse 2 pixels, and not 100 pixels if I move the mouse 20 pixels really fast - hope that makes sense)

Could also install Logitech SetPoint software. That can help to customize the mouse too.
