Amd A10 7850K- Your thoughts on this Apu.

My system specs......
1) A10 7850K- stock heatsink stock clocks
2) GigaByte A55 FM2+ board
3) Corsair Hx 850 watt Psu
4) Corsair vengence 4gb 1600mhz Ramm
5)Corsair Force Ssd-90 gb
6)Western digital Black 1tb 7200 rpm
7) Asus VEH247 1920x1080 monitor

So far heres what i tested- Hitman Absolution, Metro 2033, Battlefield 4, Dcs world A10-C warthog......Every game plays fine at 1080p but requires a Resolution cut in order to increase framerate, My plan is to add a Discrete Gpu Nvidia Gtx 980 or 780ti, or Radeon 290/X- I also need more ramm so iam going 16gb dual channel at 2133mhz......Any other suggestions? The motherboard is pretty weak it cannot overclock at all so a board change down the line is in order if iam going to increase the clocks I think? ...............It is kinda cool tough that i can play my games without a Video-card, I dont think thois would be possible on any other platform so props to Amd for making this little Powerhouse!


Dcs world wil push 20fps at Medium ( A10 C ) add-on at 1080p - Some people can get bye just on the Apu graphics alone, but Not I- I want every game maxed-out so yeah.Seems to Game better then my old 6800k- the igpu is stronger thats for sure!

spend $40 and get you another 4gig memory. Even at 1600mhz, you will see a HUGE difference in the gaming department, as well in the basic pc stuff..

but I see ya going for the gusto.. 2133mhz. Good job!

Now for the 2nd part of my question- If I get one of the Video cards I mentioned and decide I wanna go 4k will 1 card be able to handle it or no? If i need Crossfire or Sli I have to change this Motherboard it only supports 1 video card. Ive seen a Asus 4 k monitor 29 inch-$600 dollars so after the Gpu and Ramm upgrade I will be looking into this as well. 1080p is fine but 4k is a diffrent beast all together. iam prpbbly going to need to overclock the Apu as well? What do you think?

Yes sir- I will be Upgrading the Ramm, thats on my 1st thing to do list. I just havent decided to do 16gb total at 2133 or just get another 1600mhz stick.The one iam using now dosent even have a heat spreader it fell off- Its ghetto fab all the way! lol

What about the Cpu department? Do you think ill run into problems at 4k with this set-up? I guess theres only 1 way to find out right?.......Funny on my motherboards box it says it supports 4k out of the box! Id like to see that lol. I have Dvi,hdmi, and Vga hook-up.

It probably does support 4k, out of the box. Just not 4k 3D, only 2D, such as desktop, web browser, etc... :P

the apu is a weak cpu, and its gpu will not keep up with at at all

If you're going to 4k res, you gotta at least go with an intel i5. That cpu will be a bottleneck. There is no point in using those apus if you going to run with a dedicated graphics card.

he already own the cpu. This is his upgrade options, not a total rebuid option..

Yeah its an upgrade- Theres ALWAYS going to be some type of bottleneck regardless which system you are using! This Apu will do perfectly fine with a High-end gpu or even 2 for that matter. For a single gpu the diffrence between my Apu and a i5 is 2-3 fps you wont even feel that in games- On an i7 with 2 gpus the diffrence can be much bigger,but not on an i5 sorry.

Of course theres a point- I dont own a high-end Gpu currently, But I can stil play all my games without a dedicated Gpu ( you cant do that with an Intel ) cpu sorry! Not even close lol.So when I get more money ill be dropping in the cards I mentioned- Then at this point in time ill be able to Max-out all the games I play- Thats the plan. And this wouldnt be possible with any other Cpu or Apu.

Sorry man but no offence towards you or anything I dont read Anything that Toms hardware wrights, those guys are just full of it! I usually read 3-d guru,Tech report but never Toms. Thanks for posting that regardless.

I was going to buy the G3258 but the only thing that stopped me was the Graphics are SO weak. I wouldnt be able to game like I am currently-Amd was my only option. If that Haswell had the I-gpu power of my 7850k that thing would just Rock! I hope Intel can take note of this.

if you plan on upgrading to a dedicated gpu get the g3258
a gtx 750 ro r7 265+ will be better than the apus gpu can reach

I just downloaded Amd Overdrive so I bumped up the I-gpu core clock from 720mhz to 850mhz and iam showing about a 8fps gain- Very impressed so far! I wonder how far the core clock can reach? Also if I install my aftermarket cooler I can try overclcoking a the Cpu portion.
