if using a dedicated gpu, go with an i3 or pentium g for hte same price as the fm2 build

will have much better upgrade options, and less bottlenecking from the cpu in the future

similar for the fx build, no point in them, am3 is a dead end for upgrades, 6-8000 will add more cores but not more speed

Keep in mind you want the major parts in your system to be somewhat balanced. Otherwise they will hold each other back. The 1st setup is such an example. The GPU is great but you won't even scratch the surface of what it can do if you put it together with such a slow CPU and cheapass parts.

my budget is around £500
around 800 dollars, what parts would need to be swapped out?

if you like overclocking, get a pentium g 3258 and b85 mobo

else, aim for an i3 4150 or i5 4460
either will be a good match for the r7 260x+

Buy the first one with Athlon 760K & R9 280.

Or if you can stand to use Linux or pay 25~ GBP extra for Windows then there is this:

FX 6300 + R9 270X for UK

Total: £488.97
