3 screens on a single GTX 680 wasn't an issue.
But TBO, how is 2 screen surround worth while? In some games it would just be very annoying at the very least, like shooter games for example.
And this is also nothing, new, if you google this "issue", NVIDIA Surround using only 2 screens has worked now for quite some time.
Where are you finding any websites saying 2 displays work with nvidia surround?
anything I am finding says it is impossible.
This is something many people have wanted for years now. I know for a fact only a couple months ago this was still impossible.
As for application, shooters might be odd on displays with large bezzel, but personally isnt too bad. Just tried borderlands 2 and battlefield 4, and when the heads line up in my 2 screens BOOM headshot haha. Hasnt been easier xD
Also, games such as eve online, makes it easier to keep across my displays.
My recordings can now have higher resolution video to work with.
Perhaps I should add that my displays are 3d, I suppose 3d vision surround is a better description.
But honestly I have no idea what let me turn surround on!
I was noticing unusual lag on my second monitor when putting chrome on it to debug a game im working on. Thought maybe some setting hidden who knows where was making display 2 get throttled.
Read potentially the refresh rates were different.
Long story short, there was the enable surround options not greyed out! and sure enough....it is working :O
I have now proceeded to have display fusion split the single surround display and treat it still as 2 displays, and my performance problem is solved.
Of course, I couldnt resist trying out a few games. They seem to work splendid and surround properly works with them!
Now back to happy developing times ^.^
or more realistically, probably get some sleep.

p.s
also potentially related, I have been using my nvidia shield tablet with my computer. there was some update when I plugged in my controller. who knows if that might have changed anything.
I cant think of any other explanations honestly.
