Replace 2 x 660GTX SLI with one expensive 760X2.
I run 2 66GTXs in SLI on an ASUS MAXIMUS VI GENE LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard with an Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell Quad-Core 3.4GHz LGA 1150 84W Desktop Processor.

I just found out about the ASUS ROG MARS760-4GD5 G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 760x2 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card, basically two 760GTXs in one card.

I would like know whether that change in cards would be significant.

I could sell my 66GTXs and re coop some $$.

Any thoughts??

Dont bother, get the new GTX 970.
FluffyPinkDecoyBunny 19 SEP 2014 a las 10:15
If you can get that 760x2 for dirt cheap - and by dirt cheap, under $250 - get it. If not, don't waste your money on it. Look towards a single GTX 970 or if you're so inclined to spend $500+ on a GPU, get a GTX 980.

thanks, just want to hear some comments on this idea, how would that run with my i5 or would it be better if I looked into an i7 with this GPU?? the GTX 970

You're just fine with the 4670k. That's what I've got for a CPU and stepping up from my old Phenom II x4 940 @ 3.6, I've seen upwards of double the performance from my GTX 570s in SLI in some games. There's no way your CPU won't be holding the GPU back.

TL;DR - you're golden with that CPU.

That CPU can run both GTX 970 and 980 fine, even in SLI.

Awesome, I will look into them with they come out. Thanks.

Big stepup for me, from a Q9650 with 295GTX.

Cool, I did a search and did not find a link to newegg, shoot, might pick one up next week.

Too bad they are not offering a free game.

Not that bad though, considering the value you get with a 970. It basically outperforms/challenges a 290X for 100$ less.

As others have said, get one better GPU over two lesser ones. GTX 9 series is the way to go! Yeah, your processor will handle beefy cards in SLI no issue.

The one reason, that I considered this was I had Stepped Up my 650ti(s) to 760GTX, so my dumb ass thinking it would take long, purchased two 660GTXs, and further more, did not know the 760GTXs needed 1 six pin AND 1 eight pin. So I was looking to get a beefier PSU, but then saw the 760x2. I have a APEVIA ATX-AQ700W-BK 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire Power Supply, with two 6 pin, so I think I will be good with this and the GTX 970.

Done deal, selling my 660GTXs tomorrow. (I have a back 560GTX Ti that I can run meanwhile)
I will hang on to the 760s, as back ups.

Thanks for all your comments.

Just my luck, I decide to order it today, on Newegg (charge it) and every each one is sold out. I was gonna go with TigerDirect, but the price is higher by $10, I will pass for now.

Well, aren't there any other shops?

(btw, I'd go for the Gigabyte GTX970 Gaming G1 or the MSI GTX970 Gaming 4G. They both have excellent cooling and a nice OC yet don't cost more than the reference model, the Gigabyte one a little more than the MSI model. Most other models have less OC or worse cooling)

Well, I got my EVGA 04G-P4-0974-KR GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Superclocked ACX G-Sync Support Video Card on it's way.

I would have loved to have purchased the GIGABYTE GV-N970G1 GAMING-4GD GeForce GTX 970 4GB, but it was sold out and I figure, I can upgrade to it later and sell the evga.

Ofcourse, if something comes out within 90 days, I can always "step-up" my evga 970GTX.
