What is your motherboard?
The G1610 is socket 1155 and Ivy Bridge, which is third gen Intel Core, means it can be upgraded still very well, unless you didn't bought some ultra-cheapo motherboard.
i5-3330
i5-3340
i5-3450
i5-3470
i5-3550
i5-3570
i5-3570K (overclocking CPU, only point to buy when you have Z77 motherboard)
But yeah just in case find out what motherboard you have. If you dont know google CPU-Z, this program will tell you what kind of parts you have in your PC and what speeds they are running.
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G43 - http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z77AG43.html
No problems then, get i5-3570 if you dont want to overclock or i5-3570K if you want to overclock. With K-version decent CPU cooler like Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is recommended (height 160 mm so check the clearance inside the case first).
i5-3570 can run on stock cooler or you can get cheap Cooler Master Hyper TX3 cooler.

3570k at sock speeds is about 3x faster from the g1610
it has 2 more cores, and each core is 1.5x as fast
Dude, it would be very like comparing a 1960 van with a 2010 ferraria, expect +30-35 fps in cpu heavy games, minimun.
Also, what is your GPU? You won't be able to play much without a good GPU. Please, don't tell me it's a GT x10.
still farily strong, but a 760+ will be a huge improvemnt
A gtx 560 is a good GPU, but I would definitely recommend you getting a GTX 750ti. It beats the new consoles, it's the best gpu performance-money, it uses maxwell architecture (28ºc Idle -> 50ºC Full load), it doesn't make any noise, and is the best "cheap" gpu of the market.

78 fps average in Battlefield 4 at ultra.
You'll be able to play any game nowadays at medium to high settings without problems, and the price would be 139 dollars:

Pair it with a low end-mid cpu like a i3-3220:

And you will get a really good PC for gaming, at a cheap price.
750ti is lower power, but not any faster
