i7-4700mq vs i5-4210u College?
Hey guys, I am actually getting a computer to college and I'm stuck between two which are the exact same price. One has a 768p screen, like 5 hours of battery life, 1TB HDD, and weighs 5.5 lbs while having an i7-4700mq processor. The other has an i5-4210u processor, weighs 3.8lbs, 500GB hard drive with a 8GB SSD and has a 1080p screen. Both have 8Gb ram @ 1600mhz. For someone probably having like 5 tabs open at once during web browsing and watching Youtube vids and stuff while studying Physical Therapy, which one is probably more valuable?

I understand the i7 processor is better and that computer will have more performance, but I am just wondering if its necessary or the full HD screen, better battery life, and lighter laptop will be of more use to me. HDDs are @ 5400 rpm. Thanks

The i7-4700 mq laptop was a Lenovo g510 at 775$, the other was a Lenovo u430p at $750. Basically same price with a one year accident plan. If you can find something better to suit my needs please do! (Lenovo g510 is now out of stock and not gonna be replaced, essentially discontinued)

The main reason people get i7 cores is for the hyperthreading, but unless you're planning to record and edit video footage you should be fine without it. I'd go with the 3.8 pound one.
most i5m are dual core with ht
best to get an i7qm if you need 4 cores

if its mainly for browsing/videos, an i3m or i5m would be fine

for gaming or more cpu work, i7m is the way to go

What are the speeds of the hdd's?

Is the i-5 ulv?

Also, how about links to the sites where the comps are sold. What is your budget as maybe we can find you some better choices?

4210u is ultra low wattage, 15w
good speed/gpu tho
2 cores with ht and turbo, 1.7-2.7 ghz, with intel 4400 igp
