Need a Gpu for a 450W power supply

So in my pc my Gpu just died and im looking for a lower power consuming gpu that puts out the most power for a 450W psu Although im not a great part picker ,What do you guys reccomend i had the 750Ti Ftw in mind although somthing a bit stronger would be nice

just wanted to update this the power supply is 460W Not sure the quality it is branded Hp i took the side off the case

8Gb DDR3 Ram
1tb Hitachi hard drive
Amd Phenom 11 1065t [6] core cpu

old Dead Gpu was a standard Radeon 1gb 6850

The 750 Ti would be a very good choice, if you search for a low consumption card, as long even the OC version uses only like 60W. I personally have a MSI GTX 750 Ti 2GB OC in my PC, great card.
A R9 270X would be probably more powerful but would also use noticably more watts and the 450W would cut the very edge (they recommend 500W for it - but they assume a generic PSU)
Same would go for a GTX 760.
nVidia should soon come out with the new 9xx line, which should have great performance with much lower power comsumption, though I guess you need a GPU urgently.

R7 260X is a better choice than GTX 750 ti as the R7 260X can do much more GFLOPS and Texel Fillrate for a bit cheaper. R7 260X will run on a good 450w PSU with at least one 6 pin PCI-E power connector.

Post the make and model of the 450W PSU. It could be a piece of junk. What are the rest of your computer specs?

Its H.P branded in an Hp pc not sure of quality

Its 460w psu H.P branded cant really tell quality its nothing fancy to say the most

if its has a 110/220v switch its passive pfc and an old design
should be repaced if you get a better gpu

If you were running HD 6850 before then it should be no problem to run R9 270. HD 6850 is 175W card and R9 270 is 150W card.
Just dont get the R9 270X since those need two 6-pin PCI-E connectors that your PSU prob dont have while R9 270 needs one 6-pin connector.

maybe the old gpu is not dead but the psu cannot power it on due to insufficient power supply?

for the psu, if thinking about buying one: seasonic 600w+
should be able to power single mid-range gpu.

The R9 280X would be a very large improvement over your previous HD 6850 (think around double or more for most things). The R9 280 would also be a very large improvement near as much. The R7 260X would be a slight improvement and more power efficient.

You are probably right. I edited it to a 750w one. 750w was the minimum "recommended". However I do think a 500w 80 Plus Bronze of reasonable quality like that Corsair Builder 500w 80 Plus Bronze could have run a R9 280X. Just it would be pushed to the limits and maybe not able to overclock that or the CPU. So I agree, in review. A 750w 80 Plus Bronze would be far better.

Just a question would the most expensive option be worth the cost considering the other older componets in my pc

your 1065t is almost as fast as an 8350

games that need core speed will be bottlenecked, but most will be ok with it
