Cooling advice and discussion.
As of late, I have been looking around online for CPU coolers as my stock one just aint doing it's job. I'm running a stock AMD A8-5500 @ 3.2 GHz and I'm getting maxed out at 93C load temps. So far, it's boiled down to these two choices.

Cooler Master Seidon 120V Water cooling

And,

Gelid CC-Shero 120mm Hydro-bearing cooling system, low-profile.

The Water cooler would run $50 + tax, whereas the Air cooler would run $37 + tax.

I've been debating getting the Gelid because it's cheaper and would suit my needs, but I want to see what you techies out there have to say.

If you have any suggestions for a cooler, please let me know as I'm looking for anything...just needs to be Socket FM2 compatible and under $60.

Go with the Cooler Master water cooler. I'm not sure if it's FM2 Compatible but a Corsair H60 should cost you around the same.

A Hyper 212 Evo would be a great choice as well. Again, I'm not sure if it's FM2 compatible.
The Seidon says it's FM2-compatible, and the Hyper 212 EVO isn't. I'd have gone for that in an instant if it was, but unfortunately it isnt'.
Go with the seidon. Any water cooler is a good cooler.
212evo works on any fm cpu and am3/am3+ they are all hte same mounts

212evo can cool just as good as a 120mm closed loop cooler

Interesting...everywhere I looked previously told me it wasn't...looks like I may have to either go with the 212 EVO or Seidon 120V.

Either way it's getting Gelid Extreme thermal compound, so it'd be cooling really friggin well.
the cm tim is as good as as5 or other silver pastes
Well, this is a few weeks late, but I've done research and have found out that the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO will NOT fit in the case I'm planning to get alongside the CPU cooler. I HAVE, though, found some more Socket FM2-compatible coolers. They are:

Cooler Master GeminII M4: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103177

XIGMATEK Dark Knight II: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233029

The GeminII is around $37 right now, whereas the Dark Knight is $45 stock. I have decided against watercooling for the moment as I am not using anything stupidly powerful and only need temps down. ALOT.

Also, any suggestions are still welcome. Just has to be

-Under $50
-Socket FM2-compatible
-Less than 150mm tall from base to tip of pipes.
Nevermind about the XIGMATEK. That thing is the same size as the CM Hyper 212 EVO...159mm is just too tall, dammit.
what case do you have?

if you need a shorter cooler, the n520 is a dual 92mm fan cooler thats extremely quiet

simple tips, open your CPU let some air flow inside it
I currently have an OEM ASUS "Essentio" series case that wouldn't fit anything more than like...140mm tall fans, but this weekend if I get paid I'm purchasing an NZXT Phantom 240 mid-tower case.

And I've done something similar to that, Weeeky, with my current case, but I want to be able to have the door on my new case when I get it. Aesthetics, really.
Also, _|_, I've looked at the N520 multiple times....I'd love to have that cooler, but the problem is that it, to my knowledge, isn't Socket FM2-compatible.
it is, am2, am2+, am3, am3+, fm1, fm2 all have the exact same mounts

Oh, really? That's actually really good to know! I'm extremely new to anything AMD-related as this PC I have is my first-ever pc with anything AMD-branded. That significantly increases the availability of CPU coolers to me, then. haha I'll have to look into the N520, though, if I don't find anything more itneresting.
Well, everyone, I've decided to buying the Cooler Master Hyper N520...I hope it works for me. Thanks for all the help!
