Nvidia Control Panel Reverting Back to Integrated
I have a Asus G750JM and i recently had to completely reinstall windows 8.1 to it. I downloaded all the drivers for the laptop from the support website (as far as i can tell, the device manager doesnt say otherwise), along with the latest nvidia driver. I went to the control panel and selected the High-performance NVIDIA processor as my default for 3D settings. I go to play a game (borderlands 2, skyrim) and they get really bad framerate, i then look back in the control panel and it says my settings are default on the integrated intel gpu. Help?

tl;dr the nvidia control panel settings revert back when i play a game even though i hit apply to save it

have it set use the high performance nvidia processor instead of the intel card. for global settings.
i think it is due to nvidia optimus technology.

to save power, nvidia gpu is turned off, intel gpu is turned on.

yes I read, sometimes the game would not use the nvidia gpu but use the intel, so you have to force it on when using intensive programs. And yes intel gpu is on when just doing basic tasks like youtube etc.

Have you tried disabling the intel hd graphics in the BIOS?

Don't do that, you would render the computer useless.

you cannot disable the intel gpu

its always used, even when the nvidia gpu is in use

the intel gpu is the only thing connected to the monitor/s
the nvidia gpu writes to the intel gpus frame buffer to be displayed

im just looking for a way to force the settings into saving that i want to use the nvidia gpu as the standard without it reverting back to using the intel gpu only

Solved: You just gotta completely wipe your nvidia software and reinstall the reccomended driver from the manufacturers website. It worked on my second attempt.
