Good headphones for gaming
So I'm looking for a good pair of headphones for when I'm gaming. I'm using a seperate microphone so I'm not looking for a headset. I'm looking for a pair with good padding since my ears are quite big and get sore very easily during long sessions. They also get sweaty so if there is a pair who like airs out or whatever to call it that's a plus in my book.

Hook me up with tips if you have similar problems or some headphones to recommend.

hyperx cloud 2 is coming up, a nice step up from the already great hyper x cloud 1.
Avoid "gaming" products and get an actual proper pair of headphones instead. What's your budget?

I could spend about 200€ / $250 to get a great pair.
AKG Q701 and Audio-Technica ATH-AD900X are really good. Open-back, wide soundstage, good spatial awareness for gaming. The Q701 may need amplification if your motherboard audio isn't great.
Or if you want something warmer and easier to drive than the Q701, try the Sennheiser HD 598.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check them out !
I got the hyper x cloud. went through around 6 previous pairs and liked some features but not all. The hyper x cloud was rated as third best headset of 2014 but has a cost of 100 dollars instead of the others on the top 10 that had prices over 200 dollars. worth checking them out. I got mine on sale for 70.
I've read and heard alot of good about "Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO Headset - 80 OHM"

And it looks like they are on sale now or just had their price reduced. About 150€ / $180. I will probably look abit more in to those and order a pair the coming days.

DTs are very good as well. But I wouldn't recommend such a high impedance pair of headphones without a dedicated amp or at least a good soundcard. The 32 Ohm version should play well from pretty much any source, though.

Really ? All I've read is that 80s are just fine for PC usage. And the 32s have leatherette earpads which make my ears really sweaty, which I don't like, and the audio differences aren't very big.

EDIT: I built my PC last year so my motherboard should be able to drive the 80s just fine, no ?

I have no personal experience with the DT770, so it may be that they are efficient enough to work with no amp. At 80 Ohms I'm skeptical they'll sound as good as the 32s straight from your motherboard jack, though. If you can get either for that price I would go for the 32s and buy replacement pads. If the 80 Ohm is cheaper you might as well go for that, yeah.

Some motheboards do have very good audio, and even high-power headphone amps. Most of the stuff from Asus is good, so are Gigabyte and MSI's Gaming boards.
I use the Logitech G930 wireless 7.1 surround gaming headset. I think they're great.

I have an MSI gaming series motherboard, can't remember the exact name right now. Should be good yeah ?

I use a gamecom 780, bought it for around $80. If you wanna save money, this would be a good way to go. Mic quality is amazing, sound quality even better. I'm not much of a sound guy, but the surround sound it legit. Might wanna look it up before you buy, maybe somebody else can explain better. =S

It's a sub $100 headset. Built by a company (Plantronics) that manufactures call centre grade headsets for telephone and wireless.
- 7.1 Dolby Surround headset with Music/Gaming modes (Non-tweakable), with on/off.
- Rotational microphone with behind ear mute button.
- High quality microphone with a good ground but NO noise cancelling (NO white noise, but you can hear lots of background polution)
- USB connectivity (Rather short cable, but friendly to extenders from personal experience)
- Adjustable headset with cloth ear pads but dense foam for a solid fit/long lasting puff.
- On ear Dolby On/Off, Volume Adjuster, Mic Mute switch.

I'd order a second set if this pair broke, unless a better recommendation came in for durable, non-cost-heavy headphones.
