Computer doesn't start after installing new RAM
I have a asus p5g41c-m lx MotherBoard withch supports DDR2 and DDR3 RAM

CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Processor Q6600
(8M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

RAM:Kingston DDR3 4GB PC3-10600 CL9 1.5 V
ELIDA DDR3 2GB PC3-10600U 1.5V CL7

when i plug in my Kingston DDR3 4GB into slot one single configuration the The system wont boot (blank screen and FAN runing at full RPM )

but when i plug in my ELIDA DDR3 2GB RAM into the motherboard the system start up fine.

The system wont boot (blank screen and FAN runing at full RPM ) if i put the bouth RAM in a Dual channel configuration i had to plug in my old DDR2 RAM sticks so i could be on 4GB of RAM.

Have i brought the right RAM ?

motherboard please?

also, you can try clearing CMOS or remove motherboard CR 2032, then after a few minutes reinsert CR 2032.

Should have dumped your old ram and bought a full new set. When you keep old ram ant add some more, you most likelly get the wrong ones that doesnt match.

depends igf he just added more ram that is the smae make and use as old ram wont make any diff
but if the ssytem doesnt boot id say tak the ram out
then do stick by stick test
chances are if you got ebay ram it may be faulty

take the ram out and try stick by stick
it maybe the ram is faulty
cross matching ram isnt a good idea

i put in the 4GB RAM system dose not boot

i take it out and put in the DDR3 2GB RAM and the system boots normal

put the DDR3 2GB and the DDR3 4GB and the system will not boot.

i have done the stick by stick test in evey posable DRAM configuration.

If it doesnt boot with only one ram stick. Then that ram is just faulty.

Unless you installed the memory on a different slot. Because it's also possible that you have a faulty ram slot.

again, try clearing the CMOS or take out CR 2032 battery for a few minutes then reinsert the battery.
then use kingston 4gb on ddr3-slot A or ddr3-slot B.

http://www.asus.com/nz/Motherboards/P5G41CM_LX/HelpDesk_Download/
try to update BIOS

improved memory compatiblity, 691.93 KBytes, 2011/05/04

I have done those things and there is no change

I think you missed my previous post so il repeat. If it doesn't boot with only one memory stick installed, then the ram stick is dead. Thats 100% sure. Nothing you can do about it but to get new ram.

Use old RAM...

Boot system

Find the latest offical version of your motherboard BIOS and flash update to it. Lots of the BIOS updates will also include later memory support. If that memory is newer than your current motherboard BIOS, it won't run at all or have many issues, the later version BIOS however should resolve that.

Check the motherboard manual + BIOS updates for the Memory QVL (Qualify Vendor List). This will list the known working memory types for your PC.

If required, return the memory to the store and swap, they should allow you to do this or even provide you a full refund under the consumers act, if not compatible with your system.

Your motherboard might be too old and only support up to 8GB DDR3 1333MHz memory (Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory). In which case, get low CL timing, such as those CL7, for better performance, compared to higher MHz. Use duel channel memory (2x 4GB sticks - if 64bit OS) or (2x 2GB sticks - 4GB max if 32bit OS).

Also note: All memory stick types also must match to be used together, else it will fail or just default to the slowest speed.

no mobo has all ram on qvl list
there are thousands of brand/models of ram
and most of them do work even if not on the list

are you mixing ddr2 and ddr3? (big nono)
the board has 2 ddr2 slots and ddr3 slots
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5G41CM_LX/specifications/
2 x DIMM, Max. 8 GB, DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory
2 x DIMM, max. 8 GB,DDR2 1066 (O.C.) / 800 / 667 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered memory
Dual Channel memory architecture
"*DDR3 and DDR2 memory can not be used simultaneously
Use DDR3 memory modules on the black slots and DDR2 memory modules on the blue slots."
