Directx 11 problem

All my directx 11 games crashes after playing 5 minutes (tomb raider, payday 2...), a black screen appears and the sound is glitched and i am forced to hard restart the pc. It wasn't doing that before it happened one day for whatever reason and now it always happenning, could it be something dead in my graphic card ? Or something else. I tried to update to the most recent drivers but it didn't change anything and the card doesn't overheating. I don't have any problems with directx 9 games like left 4 dead 2 or dark souls 2.

First things to try:

- Monitor CPU/GPU temps
- Verify game cache of a troubled game
- Update / reinstall GPU drivers fresh
- Reinstall DX from MS here > http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

- Check Windows Event Viewer for error logs under Windows Logs

possible dying psu or inadequate power provided by psu vs dying mobo.

complete specs please.

monitor voltage ratings on psu rails 12v+ , 5v+, 3.3v+ using any of theswe free softwares: cpuid hardware monitor, hwinfo, speedfan.
these free programs can also monitor temperatures of cpu, gpu, chassis, etc.

I have already done this and here is the error log except it's just error codes and stuff.

I didn't change any of these values so how it could be that and why it will happens sunddenly only on directx 11 games anyway ?

Its a portable computer i got for 4 years now so maybe the graphic card is just tired, but i still find strange than i can run for example Tomb raider for approximatively 5 minutes with stable 60 FPS and fine temp and boom black screen this doesn't make sense.
I tried basic stuff like vsync on and off or disable anti alisasing or windowed mode ect but no change at all, disabling steam overlay or run .exe as administrator nothing worked.

I tried installing microsoft update KB2488113[support.microsoft.com] but it made no difference at all of course.

I clean the dust with air bomb every month so it's probably not this too.

I have replaced whole ram and hard drive by a SSD recently with a fresh windows install but this was before i started playing Payday 2 who is directx 11, the problem started after 80 hours of gameplay so I do not put my life on it but for me it's not related at all.

I am starting to be out of ideas, i could try to format windows but honestly this is the last thing i want to do and maybe it will not even fix it.

I waited 30 secondes when the black screen crash came for see what was happening, a grey screen with vertical lines appeared and the sound was still buzzing. Any idea ?

often a sign of poor power supply or bad driver

with a 5xxx series gpu, go with an older driver
try the 12.4 driver

edit: missed the i5m cpu

get the notebook gpu driver for it

i previously thought the OP is using a desktop computer.

probably there is overheating in the laptop chassis due to:
1. cpu overheat
2. gpu overheat
3. laptop chassis fan cannot output heat generated efficiently.
(low clearance between laptop and table surface; poor laptop ventilation design)

download/install/run hwinfo x64.
click 'sensor' button
click 'logging start' button beside the clock icon. this is located at the bottom of the 'sensor' tab.
save *.csv at documents folder (default)
logging will now commence.
run your game before the probable 5 minutes of black screen happens.
exit the game
click 'logging stop' button.
open *csv file with microsoft excel or libreoffice calc spreadsheet.
see temperatures of cpu, gpu across timeline.

(others use everest program to monitor temperatures)

I am sure it is not driver related because i was playing all these games before for hours without ever having this crash.

I don't see a lot of differences in temps, obviously 84°on GPU for alien because it's a more recent game but it's not a critical temp and it was running at the same for 30 hours before and never had these black screen.

Could it be directx 11 who is corrupted is it even possible ?

performance drops or crash in a laptop is most likely a heat ussue

the first gen i5m is an older laptop
try cleaning the vents with compressed air

I cleaned it and took again temps on alien isolation and even if they are better it's still crash, temps are fine it's not an overheat problem for me because dark souls 2 has aproximatively the sames temps and i don't have black screens but it's directx 9 again.

Does directx 9 and 11 use different sort of microchip in the graphic card ? It could be one of them who is dying i guess.

Or it is something software side conflicting or corrupted but how to know.

The risk, as always, with SandForce based drives is that you'll run into a combination of drive + system that triggers either an incompatibility or the infamous BSOD issue. I haven't seen the bug crop up on the HyperX 3K but I haven't spent a lot of time looking for it either.

I tried to update it with the toolbox thing and he says there is no updates available.

That makes me think to something similar i had on my TV when playing with the playstation 3, one day the hdmi channel started to shuting down and restarting by himself every 10 secondes. When I changed the résolution 1080p for 1080i in ps3 settings it totally fixed the problem, took me 1 year to find this thought... But it doesn't help with my actual problem.

I suppose i will have to format windows and if it doesn't fix the problem it will be obvious than it is a problem with the graphic card, i still hope directx 11 is corrupted or something.

Played again Lef 4 dead 2 for one hour no problem, started playing tomb raider and 5 minutes later black screen and need hard reset, graphic card temps was 75° pretty much the same as the previous game. Just why it is happening ?
