Switched to windows 11
I've been very hesitant to switch from win 10 to win 11, but that free upgrade deadline was looming and so I finally did it. There was a part of me that was fully expecting the computer to just no longer work and need to purchase a new computer...so I braced for it.

Gotta say, was expecting more problems, or just more changes. Win 11 updated and all my already installed programs still work, didn't have to reformat the hard drive, and it even carried over my background photo.

For changes, the icons each look a little different, the start menu is in the center for some reason, and that's it. I'm sure it has a bunch of other annoying features I've not discovered yet, but as long as they remain undiscovered I don't really have any problems with them.

Anyway, just wanted to post this for the other folks that are fence sitting the update. Seems to be safe.

for the average person, win 11 will seem mostly the same.

but when you dive deeper into optimising it for gaming, you'll notice there's quite a few things that have been moved far deeper into the settings, some that are missing and others that are completely walled off from being changed even with third party tools like Winaero Tweaker.
Also you can't use most of the master debloat scripts found on git-hub to truly optimise all the garbage they have running in the background.

But like i mentioned, if you never used any of these and simply just had a default windows 10 install and went to 11, there won't be much of a noticeable difference other then certain things will have moved around and it looks a tiny bit different.
Can change the start menu back to the left.

11 is a bit buggy.

Can try turning copilot off.

There's more bloatware in 11.

I recommend everyone to find an ai integration removal tool. If you only use copilot there’s no b reason to have the 8 other pre-installed ones running and surveying you.

Funny thing is Microsoft collected way more data from you in the past before protection laws like GDRP in 2018 and CCPA in 2020, pre 2018 they didn't even have to say what data they were collecting and the only difference now is they have to tell you so everyone is like oh my god look what there doing.

with every version of windows ms is removing or burying more and more customization options

you cant change ui element colors, or do anything beyond picking a 'theme' color anymore
cant change tooltip colors fonts, or windows window default colors or taskbar color on their own, they follow the 'theme'

and the baked in spyware, and sending all of your docs to cloud by default
the os has so much built in tracking that cant be disabled
and auto updates that can kill features or install unwanted programs is another huge turn off

Just trimming the fat feels nice to do.

Windows 11 is usable. I use it every day, however I have chosen never to put it on my home computer.
Personally I don't really like it, and my reasons are mostly very small and petty. My biggest qualm is that I cannot move the taskbar to other sides of the screen, which is something I've been able to do in pretty much every other Windows I've ever used. Even though it was no problem in WIndows 98, it is suddenly "too hard to code" for the untalented developers of today. Oh and the changes to the context menu are stupid and pointless and many of the other menus/screens are just flat-out worse.
Every single release they usher in a whole bunch of stupid changes that nobody really likes but are kept so some do-nothing software engineer can pretend to be important and keep his job. We see this a lot with Adobe products and sites such as Youtube as well.
Every single release it becomes less "Your Computer" and more "The Computer" as they take away more control and agency over your machine.

Also there's all the privacy issues and the whole "Microsoft is a giant evil corporation that has way too much control over the PC market" which is actually a bigger deal.
Im on Win 10 still, I was on Win 11 up until around the release of 24h2, it was so problematic on my system when it was first pushed out, I decided to ditch it and go back to windows 10. Got windows 11 on another machine, and its ok, I still don't care for the UI and I find my self looking for ways to customize lot of things with Windhawk and other utilities. Don't get me wrong Windows 10 is far from perfect but its better in more ways than not when it comes to UI and menus in my opinion, still feels like it made for a desktop rather than taking a page from Apple like what I feel is win 11.

Unstable as hell for me, despite having rather fresh laptop. Constant crashes and different quirks, like I couldn't even setup full memory dump after bsod. I tried to figure out issues for several days, I even enlisted microsoft artificial idiot for help. I've learned some things, but in the end I reverted back to 10, perfect stability.
Lol! It's silly seeing some people get scared to switch like this when Win 11 is already being used by many users globally including me successfully with a few minor issues here and there for a while now. Recent updates improved its performance considerably too. Smh!

Using the OS since like the near RTM release in 2021 (22000.168 was the build I started with)
Encountered very little issues with the OS itself over time but was a smooth sailing for me for the most part tbh
Another early adopter of Win11 here, and again smooth sailing. Also I've installed it on 2-3 non-complying PCs using Rufus - again no issues. It runs nicely in my old (non-complying) Surface Pro (Gen 5), which has 4Gb RAM and 64Gb system disk.
It's hardly an "upgrade."

Sidegrade at best, and downgrade in quite a few aspects. 11 is only usable with a custom rom like Tiny11 or GhostSpectre.
