improved yeilds since its smaller parts and single defects only effect each chiplet instead of the monolith
better yes since they can pair top performing chiplets to make the best cpus
and lower tiers are all composed of similar performing chiplets
id like to see them ditch the e cores completely
who wants slow cores over fast ones
for gaming you want all cores to perform same to prevent stuttering
enables me to run movies, surf internet even download while gaming with zero
performance hit in game.also have tested e cores on and off while gaming there
is zero difference in gaming performance at least in 4k cant make any claims in
1440 or 1080p but i highly doubt theres any difference there as well.
when gpu bottlenecked cpu makes little difference
for high fps when not gpu bottlenecked, more stable cpu clocks will give more even frame pacing
Problem with Ecoresp is they use a bunch of power and produce a bunch of heat which isn't needed for gaming or any regular tasks you may do while gaming.
From a productivity pov, they are good, from a pure gaming performance pov, give me a pure P core cpu, it would run faster and cooler.
Personally I disable the e cores on my 14900ks.
Apparently intel is planning to release Bartlett-lake which is a 12 p-core SOC but outside of maybe better cooling capacity - since the p-cores are spread across the die - I see no reason why anyone with a 13900k or 9800x3d should upgrade to it. a 13900k - 14900k can easily saturate a 5090 at 4k max settings.
I guess hardcore enthusiasts that are interested in gaming and productivity would buy it?
With that said I'll consider upgrading my CPU whenever camm2 becomes available. After seeing some of the kits that were advertised in China - cl18 7600MT/s 1.1v - I'm pretty excited to see how much the upcoming CPU gens will benefit from it.
i highly doubt they will release any more socket 1700 cpus
you would need a new board and maybe ddr5 if yours is on ddr4
It was a rumour for quite a while seeing as lga1700 is still out selling core ultra it made some sense lol
But, no one should buy a chip that isn't the best value for their needs and outside of some microcentre deals, AMD tends to have Intel beat for most people.
I just hope Intel can bounce back fast so we don't have a decade of no competition.
but they do not have the flaws of 13-14th gen i series
its really no wonder they were not selling as good, lower performance and potential customers lost trust in intel and amd has better gaming cpus
1700 has about 60 cpus to pick from
1851 only has about 11 cpus
so yes it makes sense that first gen u is not selling as good as 12-13-14gen cpus
LOL tell that to people who believe the next upgrade is going to make them fall in love with games again. I agree with your sentiment but most still need to come to that conclusion.
I hope so too. AMD has a few appealing aspects that wins people over. Efficiency and no worries about motherboard and ram.
Let's be positive and wait for nova lake.
Need to see if either sides next gen is substantially faster (I doubt it) before I delid my 14900ks again.
