PS5 & PS5 Pro console MSRP getting expensive! [08/21/2025]
I don't get why both PS5 and PS5 Pro console have to be more expensive, starting August 21, 2025.

Damn that sucks! Looks like I need two jobs to save more money!
Yeah you can thank the orange buffoon for that
750 dollars for the ps5 pro is still cheap its at a price where everyone can afford it no matter your income level.

When you are so far removed from reality...
Consoles are all ♥♥♥♥, but the Dualsense controllers and it's ancestors are some of the best controllers.

Hopefully the rumored Ibex Controllers come out sometime soon.

PS5 has been the best price/performance device for this entire generation, often easily beating PCs of a similar price.

I bought a PS5 after my computer died and I sure as s*** cannot build a computer that can compete with the money I spent on that PS5.

Is it all sunshine and rainbows, no. But I don't regret it one bit. Best purchase I made in recent years
PS5/Series X=Roughly Ryzen 3700X+RX 6700 levels. The Pro has been upgraded to 7700/7800XT levels (or 5060 Ti). Of course a fully PC including it all is more expensive, that's the point: offering affordable, specialized gaming devices.

This is the 1st console generation that hasn't come down in price any really since launch, marking a historical first. It's all connected though. Similar to GPU price hikes on PC, Sony would find it hard to save money by simply shrinking (the process which had driven cost reduction for decades). https://www.ign.com/articles/sony-says-big-ps5-price-cut-would-be-very-difficult

On the plus side, this means you can still sell older hardware for real money. Including your PS5 if you wanted to. When prior, GPUs on PC dropped half their worth in 12-18 months. A 8800 Ultra launched for 700 EUR in May 2007 at the peak of the price / performance wars. 15 months later it was available new for 350... and it went downhill from there until discontinued. 8800GT, same, 8600GT, same. Just bought it, dropped in worth immediately.

The B580 is on the level of a 3060Ti. Which is roughly what's inside of the base PS5. The Pro has been upgraded to ~7700/7800XT levels of hardware. Or currently roughly 9060 XT / 5060 Ti. 16GBs versions, naturally, as the 8GB would limit too much. That said, the Pro isn't *particularly* cheap. It's been pitched as enthusiast hardware with its much increased price. Building a PC roughly matching the base PS5 in 2020 for 500 bucks.. not a chance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acE6VJ0ujA4

whats ironic is that people voted for him mostly because of the high prices lmao
Think yourself lucky. The PS5 Pro my country is about £650 which is $872!
