need help keeping my 7800X3D cool
ok last month i upgraded form ryn 5 3600 to a 7800X3D and i'm still useing the old AIO thats a 120 mm cooler not sure what brade it is. but any ways the cpu runs cool watching youtube like 45 to 50 but gaming it can run 70 to 80 but playing 7 Days to die can run hot like around 80 to the highs i gotten was 87 temp but here the thing my room is cool for now but once summer hits its going to get very hot in here and i'm not sure if the 120 mm AIO cooler going to work. but would like to see what people have to say for now but i'm am looking at some AIO that are 240 mm one's not sure what my case can hold but would like to hear what one's are good at keeping a 7800X3D cool in a very hot room in the summer thank you.

Well you can get a bigger/better AIO or you could get a big ol' air cooler to cool your CPU better. Also you could add more/better fans to your case or get a better case to improve the overall airflow. However your room will heat up the same amount regardless of what you do.

You could improve airflow in/out of your room or add an A/C so the ambient temperature is lower.
You'd need a larger cooler. 120MM AIO's were never good sadly, air cooling was superior.

what AIO and air cooler would you recommend for a 7800X3D

If you don't care about fancy RBG and screens, Arctic Liquid Freezer III are generally the best performing AIO's and affordable.

If you've room to fit a 360mm AIO(Aka, 3 120 fans in size) or a 420(3 140mm fans in size). Size is the kicker.

If not, a high end air cooler would be your other option.

it's a 7800x3D it's not exactly a high power component, a decent air cooler or AIO and any off the shelf TIM will be fine.

You certainly don't need anything "high end" unless that's the look you're going for.

Just use whatever comes with your new cpu cooler. And make sure your case supports that new cooler.
Arctic Freezer is one of the best and offers very good value. Peerless Assassin or similar double tower air coolers are also great value.

7800x3D is an unique CPU with tiny power consumption but with high 120W TDP almost matching intel 14900k 125 TDP. It also has very low thermal limit of 89C so it definitely needs a decent cooler.

What case do you have? See what it can take.

I cool my 9800X3D with a 360 AIO, I wen't with the CM ATMOS as it reviews well but I put 3 Phanteks T30 fans on that I have.

Thermal paste most are ok, I've been using Noctua NT-H1 for a long time, using NT-H2 now, used Thermal Grizzly on a few PC's but I've found it gets quite dry quick sometimes.

now that i had some free time to take a better look i found out my motherboard takes up almost all the room in the case so i'm going to look at cases if you know a good case would like to hear what you know.

Gamers Nexus does some good case reviews, I went with the Antec Flux Pro based of his case round up of 2024, it's quite an expensive case vs some though but his roundups offer cases in a few price points.
Lancool II was always a good case from what I remember and some of the Fractal cases, I tend to go for high air flow cases.

Best PC Cases of 2024: $80 to $800 Airflow, Cable Management, & Thermal Leaders

What's your budget OP?

Asking for suggestions without a price tag, size ir general look your after doesn't help too much.

good news before i went to work i found a case that would be better for air flow and can fit 360 mm AIO an is alot more room for cable management just got to wait for it once amazon ships it. and yes i got a ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 so i'll find out soon if i did good or i'm going to screw somthing up

Cool, can't go too wrong with that, good luck.

Nice, if you're mounting the AIO at the top (mine is at the top) and ave coolair pulling in and down flip the first fan to push out and that avoids turbulence right at the front and gives better flow through the case.

This is my case and how they are set.
