Best graphics cards for UE5 @1080p
I'm thinking about Unreal Engine 5 games on a 1920x1080 screen. What are the best graphics cards for them?

Rtx 2060 super or rtx 3060ti

XX60 class cards can get the job done at high/ max 1080p settings without breaking the bank, relatively speaking.

RTX 3080 10 GB.
This card shreds on literally all games in HD rez. Also in 1440p with minimum sacrifices.

UE 5 is just bad. Also, not only do you need a strong GPU but CPU to power through some of these terribly optimised games. The stronger of both, the better.

I have a 4060Ti (16GB) and I find it kind of lacking if you want very high settings and 60FPS native. I would go for a 4070 or better now (I wanted to get an RX9070 or 9070 XT, but they sold out instantly). You also need a stronger CPU for UE5 games, Something like a 14600k or a 7800x3D or better. You also want an M.2 drive, since a lot of these games prefer streaming from the drive rather than loading data into RAM or vRAM.

Honestly, UE5 is just a trainwreck.

I have only played one UE5 game, Infinity Nikki, and it looks great and it runs well at 1080p even on my laptop 3060. Max without ray tracing.

2060 Super is good, just it only has 8gigs memory.

They keep adding crap to games like 7 Days to Die making it a resource hog and it couldn't keep up with Dev Bloat in the game.
depends on the game using UE5 there are some games fairly optimised using that engine such as the finals. hell even the older 1080ti can get away with playing most UE5 games at high settings 1080p with 60fps. the engine isn't optimised but it's not as bad as most people make it out to be

No, it really is that bad.

It can be managed if a game is pretty linear and contained, but it is still a big performance hit for little returns. Then you apply it to an open world game, and that is when everything goes to ♥♥♥♥. All of the problems get multiplied many times over when it is trying to run an open world game.

i haven't found it to be as bad as people say tbh. it's not optimised like say the frostbite engine but overall i think it's better then most unity titles. (there are exceptions of course)

7 days to die is a unity game.

It doesn't

Monster Hunter Wilds is pushing the card too 30 FPS in towns.
Stalker 2 has a lot of demanding moments.
Final Fantasy 16 was also struggling.
The First Descendant has plenty of places where it chugs.

This is btw reaching 60 FPS. Which is bare minimum.

There are without a doubt more games that are struggling with a RTX 3080 FE.

I have btw

i5 12600KF
RTX 3080 FE
32 GB RAM 3600Mhz
Win 11
All games on Nvme 2.0

If you play older games then yes it will run fine but you're not pushing most of the newer Unreal Engine 5 games unless they are really optimized.
I'd have to say 3080 10GB minimum. STALKER 2 and WUKONG are prime examples where even at 1080p, a 3060 just doesn't cut it. If can run such games just fine at 1440p as well.

You also want a decent CPU and 32Gb minimum RAM as well. Such as Intel 12th Gen i5 or better. Or Ryzen 3700X/5600X or better

Monster Hunter Wilds is totally unoptimized, it doesn't even count :/
But a fully modded Cyberpunk ( around 900 mods) is totally playable in ultra - high with RT on high and DLSS quality. Cyberpunk is still a benchmark tech demo.

Anyway, most of the games have mandatory DLSS or it's powerpoint time.......guess why ?Because even 40 and 50 series struggle without DLSS in certain games because " Marketing yoohoo".

Anyway, it's not the time ot buy a new card especially now with all the lies from Nvidia and the not so believable FSR4 - Ray tracing copy from AMD.
The performance is still worse on AMDs side. But the prices at Nvidia are plain crazy.

I'll have to wait probably 2 or 3 years until " something working and not based on lies" comes out.
LOL yea MHW is just a terrible junk game. Best to just uninstall it and play others until it gets better, if ever. As of right now MWH is hardly playable even on the best specs
