Weird mouse bug?
I’ve had this happen to 2 mice before, the Logitech g pro x super light and the razer viper v3 pro. After a period of time of using them about 6-12 months of use, the start to not respond at points, I’ve fixed this by cleaning it but the both have also sort of made my cursor move down if that makes sense. Without me touching my mouse it moves my cursor down and it’s really frustrating while playing games. Not sure if I need to clean it better or what I need to do.

do you have a controller plugged in?
by default steams desktop mapping for controller uses a stick to move the mouse
Hmm yea unplug all controllers and never leave those plugged in.

It just in general not just with steam, and no I don’t have a controller connected in any way
Damaged surface the mouse is used on perhaps

It probably is because I washed my mousepad and it only started happening after I washed it, not right after though that’s why I didn’t suspect it
Who even needs a mousepad anymore. Given the feet on the mice can last like 5 years or more sometimes and the sensors are so much better compared to 10+ years ago

It's been about 12-15 years since I've needed a mouse pad. All mouse pads do is slow me down

I have like a slightly bumpy surface tho that’s the problem
You do NOT wash the mousepad (especially in the washing machine), use a damp sponge, or washcloth, instead.

If the fabric lifted off of the underlayment, you are screwed but the pads are cheap enough if they are not those fancy ones with a wrist rest or coffee holder.

I tried super glue, silicone, all types of stuff but the mousepad cannot be fixed.

If I did not use a mousepad, the cheap MDF laminated desktop I have would be stripped of the laminate (like on the wrist part where I used hockey tape to help remedy the issue).

Some of the desk laminate started coming off with simply having my phone on the desk vibrating, so I had to use earthquake putty to stick something on there to cover the shame.

Ok maybe one of those larger mouse mats tbat have enough room for your KB & Mouse might help.

If you wash a mouse pad be gentle with it. Just use some warm water and gentle hand soap on it. Dish soap is too harsh. And you don't want HOT water or any ringing out of the mouse pad. You can rub in the warn water and hand soap by hand then generously rinse it off and allow it to dry out hanging up if possible

ye i have a full sized mousepad and i washed it carefully but not carefully enough i guess
Did you allow it to fully dry out?

Check the mouse maybe it has tiny dust or debris right where the sensor is, which will throw off the mouse pointer
They also have glass and silicone mousepads although the glass ones will register every single tiny shake in your joints.

I also seen a wooden mousepad that had epoxy resin glazing.

I have a cheap mousepad that I bought for $1 about 15 years ago which is still viable today (and has never been washed/spot-washed).

Seems as though these mousepads hate water or maybe it is the chlorine in the tap (and/or fluoride).

I know the Venus Fly Trap dies if you give it tap water that contains either fluoride or chlorine and fish are sensitive to tap water for the most part because of the chlorine.
