Asus Astral RTX 5090 costs $5000 USD here.
Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 5090 costs $4269 USD.

Zotac AMP Extreme Infinity costs $4531 USD.

Is it smart or stupid to buy one? Helping my friend bill to ask.

Let me know the prices of the RTX 5090 in your country.

Depends on who you are asking.
Yes, because you can buy it.
No, because retailers are selling it with very high profit margin.

Nvidia is about to release RTX Pro 5000 which should be fast as RTX4090 with MSRP 4k USD. With this availability I won't be supprised to get even higher.

If anyone is interested the 9070 series are having almost 100% mark up here as well. Maybe 90%.

It really depends how rich your mate is.

To me, it's not worth paying much over MSRP so I'll wait til supply's normalise, but, if he can drop $5k like it's nothing, then, sure, why not?

End if the day price and worth is very much an individual thing.

Considering that it's stupid to buy one for MSRP, it's definitely stupid to go for a wildly inflated price.
(also, most people thinking of doing that, have a good card already. I keep seeing posts about people wanting to upgrade their 4090 to a 5090. So they really don't *need* it NOW. Have some patience, wait 6-12 months, save a bundle when the price comes back down.)

Cheapest 5090 listing is that much here too, 5080 is over 2K.
and yeah 9070 XT is starting at 1K too, all out of stock.

Its the whales who enable these tactics, I see no problem with going for a high end card if you're upgrading from something ancient, thats what I plan to do myself when theres gonna be stock so that I don't have to build another PC within the next 10 years, its been 5 years and this ♥♥♥♥ is still ongoing, obviously manufacturers and retailers are in on the artificial scarcity because they know some people are gonna pay up. Going for something cheap and having to upgrade more often while still dealing with the inflated prices and no stock is not really worth it, save up, buy something better, use it for as long as possible, thats the way to go in the current market imo. If you have a 1080 or worse tier card and are playing new games at 1440p or 4K at higher settings then you should upgrade, otherwise wait 1/2/3 however many generations until your current card actually becomes slow enough to be worth dealing with trying to get a new one.

I don't think the price will change much within the the next 6 to 12 months. Starting from the 40 series, nvidia has proven that they don't have the ability to satisfy market demands.
Stupid. It's just supporting bad scalping practices.

I laugh out loud at these people i paid $1363 for my 5080 its here in front of me not on a shelf either.

Think about what could be done with that kind of money and tell me if it's worth paying that much to play games that will still run poorly on a 5090 because the developers are incompetent. A 5090 doesn't guarantee you will run a game well or have an enjoyable experience

For me, I'd take 1000 pizzas, sponsoring over 20 food drives, etc. over a device that can burn out and be a paperweight. But hey, that's just me... :steamhappy:
