Should I buy the Valve Index VR-Kit now?
Dear Steam Community,

I want to buy the Valve VR kit, but I’m not sure if the price will go down in the near future. Maybe you know better.

You might call me crazy, but the main reason I want to buy it is because I will earn a lot of Steam points from this purchase, which I want to use to craft the seasonal badge. This means I want to buy it before the next badge becomes available. Could you also tell me when the badge changes?

Maybe someone can tell me if it's possible to buy it cheaper before the next badge change, or just let me know if you would buy the kit at its current price.

Thank you in advance!

The badge changes 2x a year when the Summer and Winter sales events begin. It tells you this on the Seasonal badge page itself...

Check back during the Summer and Winter sales for an all new seasonal badge.

Summer sale begins June 26th this year...

Buying the Index kit just for the points is a terrible idea though.

Purchase sticker capsules inside CS2, get points, sell the capsules on the Market at a small loss after the 7 day cooldown.

Thousands of points per dollar.

Depending on the sticker capsules value on the Market vs the price in game, you have the possibility of making money by selling them and getting points free. This was the case with the Stockholm 2021 sticker capsules. They sold for no less than 2x what they were priced in game.

Thanks for the reply.
Which sticker capsules exactly are you referring to?
Can they be sold at the same price, or is it only possible to sell them cheaper?
Any and all CS2 capsules.

Mostly for a small amount less but as usual with marketable items, that will depend on the CS2 Market prices.

I bought a Shanghai capsule. I will try it.

It really all comes down to what games/sims you're into. If you're a race or flight simmer then the Index route is pointless. If you play MP shooters then the precise tracking system should give you an edge. Camera based controller tracking has a few blind spots.

If you want external base stations for the best tracking then I'd recommend them, but the Index headset alone is just old now, so you'd probably be better off getting a Pimax HMD to pair with the external tracking system. It will cost a bit, but that's high-end PCVR for you.

Having the external tracking system does give you a lot more options.
