To flash the BIOS, you will need a USB flash drive formatted for ex-fat and it is also not advisable to save/load previous BIOS settings as new settings could appear (as well as older settings disappearing) if you do choose to update the revision.

the download is a zipped file, extract it to the root of a drive, or usb stick
boot to bios
on the update page, select the drive you extracted the file to, and update
let it finish, if it looks like its stuck, wait 10 minutes longer
when complete, boot back to bios, enable xmp and set drive boot order to only the os drive
and save/exit and reboot
Sometimes you need a pre-requisite version but those are the exception and not the norm, and they should be noted if that is the case.
Looking at the descriptions for all of the BIOS entries for that board from F10 to the latest F18d there does not appear to be any requisite to update to an intermediate ROM before flashing the latest version.
You should just be able to make note of your BIOS configurations / settings, download the F18d zip file, extract it and move the rom file to the root of a USB flash drive, then boot into BIOS and use the in-bios update to select the USB flash drive and update. Then re-apply your BIOS settings after rebooting back into BIOS.
Note that if you are using secure boot you may need to re-enable fTPM for your signed bootloader to be able to boot your OS again.
EDIT: It is also worth nothing that you are also able to do the BIOS update from within WIndows using their AppCenter and installing their @BIOS utility. It will automatically download the latest BIOS available for your board from their servers and then flash it.
as for the OP's motherboard there is NOTHING on gigabytes website about the newest BIOS needing any prior BIOS's to run so update to the newest version.....

this is the latest for your motherboard.....you should have no issues going right to it.....
You also think BIOS updates magically make an AM5 LGA CPU work on an AM4 PGA CPU socket. Don't think anyone should take any advice regarding BIOSes from you.
hehe.....he still does not understand LGA VS PGA......hehe.........
that was a cheap ecs board, and was able to rma it and get it back within 2 weeks with update bios
it can be a pain if one fails, but many newer boards have backup bios or flash back, which can help recover from bad bios flash
