I wouldnt call that a good deal. Prices are going to drop further with the release of the newest generation of team red&green in a few weeks.
Also, 779 pounds are still almost 1000 dollars or a 1000 euros. You could get that deal all day long for the last 365 days. Youd even pay less on occasion.
And if you keep in mind that you could get a 4080 Super for the aprox same amount of money, this deal becomes less and less attractive.
I was a AMD user all my life but DLSS compared to FSR is a gamechanger for me and Id also like to enjoy Raytracing and Pathtracing without mods or using upscaling technology like FSR, which sucks big time or Xess, which sucks less.
Just my 2 cents.
4080 SUPER is nowhere near this price. Lowest is 975 I have seen and this is with a now borderline 16GB framebuffer. The XTX and 4080 SUPER trade blows.
The one that is close is the 4070 Ti SUPER which offers worse value for money but better upscaling.
Different class of performance.
I personally don't care for RT, I just posted those vids to shut some people up, it's just perception is that NVIDIA are way better at it when games are not even optimized for either AMD nor Nvidia, as both get horrendously hit performance wise.
At 1440P I won't need any upscaling.
I guess it depends where you live.
You can get a 4080Super for around 20k Rand in South Africa (which is a 1000 bucks), or 1000 euros in Germany and France. Ive got some family and friends over there and they treated themselves lately.
And like already mentioned, the prices are going to drop further in the near future.
And yes, RT is a matter of choice and taste but Id like to give it a shot. It doesnt do much in most games, but games like Cyberpunk or Metro are something else with RT or PT enabled.
And Im with you regarding AMD. Best bang for the buck PERIOD. They are on the same level with Nvidia when its about pure utilization power. Theyve earned their stripes big time.
edit: The 7900XTX is a beast, nevertheless.
779 is NOT a good deal, especially with all new GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD and INTEL about to drop very soon. It's already been leaked that the upcoming Radeon 9700 rips on the 7900 series (XT and XTX) quite hard. While it's not miles ahead of the XTX, it still beats it.
But hey if you're happy with what you got then I'm glad for you! The 7900XTX is truly a beast of a card.
Well the going rate for 7900 XTX is around 999-1099 depending on exact brand+model.
But this is probably THE WORST time to buy any GPU until the New Years inventory clearance sales come around.
Different markets.
Lowest for this model was 750.

Deep discounts will come after Jan 2nd in most markets as retailers must get rid of various inventory to start off the new year and to do well that 1st quarter.
Plus, again, all 3 major brands will have all new GPUs very soon. AMD and INTEL most likely further away in 2025 compared to NVIDIA's RTX 50 series though, but still.
It shouldn't even be labeled as a "7900"
It's not even in the same ball-park as 7900 performance.
that was the GRE.....it was never the XTX......the XT was never even close to this price......
Must have been the 7900 XT then I guess. I'll have to go check through some purchase history. I know it wasn't any GRE cause I would never bother with that crap. It was like a 45+ % discount at the time so I know it wasn't no 7900 GRE stuff.
This video just dropped.
I still prefer NVIDIA regardless because much less headache and general problems. In like 1000 NVIDIA cards maybe one goes bad. With Radeon these # of fails are all over the place and so laughable it makes me wonder how Radeon can still exist. Only because the market tolerates it. And with NVIDIA I can use all of those AMD features if needed, where as AMD can't use any of the NVIDIA features.
