What is...?
What is the best AMD GPU that you can get THAT ONLY REQUIRES AN 8 PIN POWER CONNECTION?

I am currently using a 4060 Ti (16GB), and I was wondering if there is an AMD that would be better while not needing to replace my PSU as well.

There isn't a single card in AMD's arsenal that can even match the 4060 Ti in performance while only using a single 8-pin connector, if that's all your power supply has, then I think you need a new power supply.

If you're worried about power efficiency then there's nothing to do here, the 4060 series is already really efficient and AMD can't compete with that with what's on the market at this moment.

The 7800XT requires 2 8 pins.
The 7600XT gets destroyed by the 4060TI(16GB)

Well yes, of course but OP asked for the best AMD GPU with only one 8-pin power connection and the RX 7600xt is the best one regarding these prerequisites. :badluck::csdsmile:

Nvidia has the most power efficient GPUs rn
And you are expecting to see something better by the others???

I don't think you're going to get a worthwhile upgrade unless you get a card with more than one 8-pin power connector.

MAYBE next gen if AMD doesn't screw up (they will) you'll get a great efficient card, though I still doubt it'll use only one connector.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

You want to get a better GPU than what you have but not a better PSU that can accommodate a better card?

Yes, I thought I made that clear.

I was considering a swap to AMD since I swapped to Linux full time now. However, I only want to do it if I can just pop my current on out and the new one in.

Nah, my power supply is fine. I will mark this as the answer to the thread though, since you let me know AMD can't handle it.

Thank you.

I only use Linux as well and I've only been using NVIDIA GPUs since I switched, haven't had any issues to speak of and performance is more or less consistent with how they work on Windows. So I don't think that should be of any concern, AMD might have more driver options on Linux but it's really not all that important, one good driver is enough.

The only issue with Nvidia on Linux currently, is that frame gen does not work.

It does though, maybe not in every game but I've had it working for Cyberpunk for example, with both a 3080 (through a FSR to DLSS-FG mod) and 4070 TS. The implementation could be better but it does work.

Nah, you're missing the point.

You can enable FSR frame gen, but you can not enable DLSS frame gen. FSR frame "can" work with DLSS upscaling, BUT ONLY IF the devs for the game enable it, and most will not do so. Cyberpunk is a a rare exception.

You were saying? Proton 9 added support for it, it's there and it does work if you make it work.

We're pretty much passed the days where AMD was actually ahead on Linux. NVIDIA's already taking the crown back and there isn't a whole lot left for them to do.

I am in the Steam Beta Update path.
I have a 4060 Ti (16GB)
Using Nvidia Driver 565.77
on Linux Mint

...and if I try to enable DLSS Frame Gen in the Black Myth Wukong Benchmark tool, I still get the same error about needing to enable it in the OS.
