fast at start then gets stuck
Hello. I've encountered this issue, where, one of ssds it simply when I start downloading on them, it is super fast at start with more than 500Mbps/s speed, then 2 minutes later it gets stuck with a whooping 1Mbps/s speed in both disk usage and current. When I open the task manager, it says that that specific ssd is at 100% usage, tested another ssd it barely uses 25% when downloading something from steam. Any advice that solve this problem is more than appreciated. Sorry for bad Australian.
That soubds like a fake ssd sppeed

The quick drop means the buffer is full and defaulta to the real speed.

What's your point?
Just wait til it's done.
Take Manager probably is not tracking anything regarding the drive with accuracy if the drive is 100% usage. This can happen with some drives. Just wait til the download or verify is completed.

I"ve downloaded a 100gb game in like 20 minutes in a differente ssd, if I try to download in the first ssd it is gonna take up a day. It can not be normal. Thanks for quick reply though.
Are they all SATA SSDs or what?

Which models of SSD?
Where is each connected?

SATA PORT1: PICHAU GAMING PG256X SSD (My ssd where is installed my os)
SATA PORT2: MX500 SSD 1TB (the slow writing speed one)
SATA PORT3: WDS500G3BOA-00AXRO (the one which is running as expected)

I don't know what you mean by "or drive line on steam download graph" But the cpu usage was below 20% having some background apps running like discord, spotify, whatssap and ofc steam itself.

And that does not only happen with steam, but with anything I try to transfer into the MX500, it starts at a good rate, but then drops abruptly. I do not know what to do, probably getting refund a new one it is the way to go.

Cant tell really, cmd says it is fine, maybe just a faulty device. A shame.

pick on 'manage downloads' at the bottom of steam

near the top is a line for disk usage, and numbers
if the numbers are big or the line is high, the drive is slowing it down
I have a fake usb stick that looks real. I get fast speed for 5 seconds then its usb 1 speed.

They pick the reject usbs out of factory dumpster and repackage them as real drives. Amazon and ebay both let them be sold and close thier eyes it seems like

Try a different SATA Port or SATA Data Cable.

When last time the drive had a fresh format/wipe? Is the drive nearly full?
I would also suggest downloading 'Crucial Storage Executive'. With this app you can update firmware, check drive health and run a drive test.

The Western Digital version is called 'Western Digital Dashboard' does the same stuff as above

Hmm, it seemed nobody mention about SATA3 vs SATA2 on motherboard. SATA 3 deliver 6GB/s in theory and SATA2 speed slower than SATA3 with only 3GB/s. Maybe you just connected to SATA2 port or maybe wrong configured. Happy research :steamhappy:

I seen stores selling SATA cables but upon closer inspection these are actually SATA II cables not SATA III. :csd2angry:
