System crashing when playing some games.
Hi,

My problem first started after 1 month of Ea FC25 release, 1st month there was no problem, but in 2nd, the game started freezing my whole pc without showing a bluescreen, after waiting some time with the freeze, pc just restarted, my first thought was that this is some classic fifa update and it will be solved, but now I have these freezes in a lot of games like: Assassin's Creed Origins, Metro Redux, Forza Horizon 5, etc. Strangely in some games I don't have it, like in League of Legends. Also no component is overclocked.

What I've already tried:

-Stress testing CPU, and GPU and watch the temperatures (they are more than fine)

-Bios update

-Bios reset to factory settings

-Updated all the drivers

-Windows reinstall (first i had windows 11 24h2, after learning that there was a lot of problems with crashing, now I have clean installed windows 10 last version)

-From windows logs, all I could get was the "Kernel-Power EventID: 41, Task category: 63 with bugcheckcode: 292", but after a little research I have found that this error do not show the reason of the crash.

Computer hardware:

-CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor

-GPU: AMD RX 6600 XT 8GB
-RAM: 32Gb Ram DDR4 3200mhz CL16 Fury Black

-PSU: Aerocool VX PLUS 700, 700W

-HDD: Hard disk Seagate BarraCuda 2TB SATA-III 7200RPM 256MB

-SSD: Samsung PRO 990 2TB

Hope someone can help me with this problem!

Test your RAM with memtest86.
https://memtest.org/
You can also use bootable ubuntu installer. It contains the same test.

If you find errors it doesn't mean your RAM is broken, but you set timings and speed incorrectly.

I had stupid programs like Apple Bonjour and MS Phone Link conflicting with my games as seen in crash reports for some of those games plus idky AMD Ryzen uses C-States when it also has P-States and why some MOBO manufacturers have a very low Load-Line Calibration (LLC) - some at the very bottom which is not proper for a gaming PC or workstation but then I found my GPU clocks were too high for some games and lowering that also helped as well as raising the Virtual Memory but the V-Mem was more for Unreal Engine 5 → check your Event Viewer for issues and as always run SFC. :badluck:

what mobo?

post a cpuz validation link
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
cpuz -> validate button -> submit button
it will open a browser, copy the url (address) and paste it here

this psu? its not even 80+ rated at all, get something better

I just finished a test with memtest86, after 80 iterations I had 0 errors, but now at least I know the rams are not the problem

what is your CPU cooler ?

I don't know exactly but it's from Thermaltake based on air cooling, but when I play a game like RDR2 on high graphics, the most it had was 73-74 Celsius, so I don't think it is from the CPU cooler :(

Yeah, PSU should be upgraded 100%, but right now, first I want to know exactly what is causing these crashes because I already used these build for more than 1 year, so if let's say the gpu is broken, my money will go there first.

i dont know why, my PC always work fine playing RDR2, and valhalla, but always had crash when playing UE5
hell even deep rock galaxy could made my PC crash lol
and your GPU is the OC version or just normal card

lets try without XMP your RAM, and turn off PBO, if still crash, underclock gpu -10% then could be your PSU

Interesting, I have this OC Nvidia Ti and the thing ran too fast causing games to crash, so lowering the clock helped a lot, surprisingly for UE-based games.

bad psu can cause odd crashes and reboots with no error in windows logs

grab the correct drivers from the mfg site
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B550M-DS3H-rev-10-11-12-13/support#support-dl-driver
chipset, audio, lan

windows update never grabs correct drivers, just compatible generic

It was in fact the psu, after more stress testing on hardware and not finding the solution, I managed to buy a new PSU (GIGABYTE UD850GM PG5 850W, 80 Plus Gold), now everything works perfectly, thank you very much.
