What are ya'll gonna get? 5080 or 5090? (Or something else?)
I'd love to get the 5090, but I think I am gonna stick with the 5080 when it comes out. I currently have a 3080, so it will be a huge jump, and it should eat any game thrown at it on 4k ray tracing until the 60 or 70 series comes out.

What will ya'll be getting?

Where are the actual prices and reviews with reliable benchmarks?

It seems nowhere as they are not our yet.

Everything is speculation at this point

Nothing. So far there haven't been any nu games I want to play and as such I only use my rig for 3d and 2d. If none of the modern games - that are yet to release in this decade - appeal to me then I might keep my hardware as is unless an SOC manages to give me similar performance in a smaller package.

Yea I agree, i kinda feel like it's pointless to upgrade right now unless your still running older hardware I guess.
Sticking with my 3060 Ti.

If and when I ever find a decent 40" 1440p either dumb TV (unlikely) or monitor, I might get a 5060, but only if they make one with 12 GB VRAM.

Nobody wants to make a 40" monitor that's not 4K or ultrawide, though. And I hate ultrawide.

So I probably won't need a new GPU for a few years.

Besides, no games even have a release date that I'm even interested in playing. GTA 6, Elder Scrolls 6, Light no Fire. Even if they do ever release, I'm betting my 3060 Ti will be able to play them just fine in 1080p.
anythings better than the 3080 that card will go down in history as one of the worst cards
ever made. it was practically obsolete out of box.
seen rumors the 5080 will be around 1599.00 OUCH !

Yeah... but what if... AMD tells you that just isn't going to be a thing?

Is this the same rumor from wccftech that I already discussed with Iggy Wolf? Somehow people keep adding more money ontop of it. lol He said $1500 and now it's up to $1599.

That rumor was based on a supposed leak showing pricing of an Asus RTX 5080 OC model from an Australian vendor with a list price of 2,544 AUD. Wccftech just did a straight currency conversion to have the sensationalist headline of "5080 to cost $1500". Australian prices are required to include their Goods and Service Tax in the list price. GST for this would be 18%. If you remove the GST from the AUD list price and then do the currency conversion at the current exchange rate it would put that pricing right at around $1299. Given it is an AIB partner board that is an OC model it is very likely to be at least $50 - $200 above MSRP of the Founders Edition models depending on which "OC" model this is.

So back in reality we are more likely looking at a $999 - $1199 price point for the RTX 5080 Founders Edition; which is in line with where the pricing for the xx80 class is currently.

It won't be a thing.
They will probably change their naming convention another 3 times by then and it'll actually be the "Radeon RXX XYZ ZERO"

Well, if the rumors are true they are aping Nvidia's naming again with an RX 9070XT. Given AMD executives have said they aren't intending to go after the high-end of the market it is highly unlikely they would be releasing an RX 9900XTX, or an RX 9090XTX or whatever name that would be trying to compete with an RTX 5090. Given the specs that have leaked for the 50-series I'd fully expect the gap (in performance) from the RTX 5080 to the RTX 5090 to be significantly wider than the gap from the RTX 4080 to the RTX 4090.

On the AMD side, the "leaks" of benchmarks are still somewhat questionable and the rumors from some people who've more consistently been accurate would seem to put the "RX 9070XT" competing with what is around the expected performance level of the RTX 5070 in terms of rasterization performance. AMD really needs this gen to improve a lot more in RT performance and they need to have at least a decent improvement in quality with their move to an ML model based FSR. The PS5 Pro at least gives a partially filled canister of hopium in regards to RT performance; but they are way behind in that regard and even Intel's Battlemage RT performance is significantly better than current AMD offerings.

It really is going to boil down to how willing AMD will be to cut their margins on their GPU lineup in order to compete on value to stave off Intel stealing away the lower-mid range market while AMD is also unable to compete at the top-end with Nvidia.

There's some other rumors of Chinese pricing that showed up in an article on Tom's Hardware. Along with advice to take it with a grain of salt, because it could be China-specific versions, it could be including their local taxes/vat/etc, and so on.
I was lucky to hear Moore’s Law is dead YT channel talking about price predictions in summer 2023. The host shared his theory that summer prices were uniquely low, will go up soon and the next gen will likely be very overpriced due to AMD not competing at high end. Lucky for me he was right and I listened.

So I decided to get the cheapest 7900xtx on the market back then at a very good price (Saphire Pulse).
I don’t expect any big jumps in system requirements until ps6 so I may skip this comming generation. No way I will pay £1200+ for 16GB and 5090 seems to be over my budget. Better save for 60xx series in my case.
