Windows Installer Error
So I just bought Cities Skylines off of steam and when it was done downloading I tried to launch it, only for it to say "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and you have access to it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package." PLEASE HELP I JUST WANT TO PLAY MY GAME!!

Also, do you have a log located in Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines with a date similar to this → 2024-04-27_100418 > error.log because this is how I found that Bonjour issue as it is stated in the crash log files here in Module 3 but I tried the game and that Paradox Launcher IS acting up quite a bit and is not updating for two games I tried. :chirp:

What are you system specs? Install CPUz and run the validator then post the link here so people can see what hardware and software you have that might be problematic.

Otherwise try going to the game in your Steam library and verifying the game files which may redownload any files that might have been broken when you first downloaded it.

First before you do anything, do the verify process. Also always launch Steam via Run As Admin.

Never put game clients on OS Startup

I’ve did the verify process and everything game back fine, but it still has the same issue. Also I’m completely brand new to ANY of this so I apologize if I’m slow.

OMG, reboot the PC, right click Steam > Run As Admin

Done deal.

If you are using Defender, disable Core Isolation and Controlled Folders.

Do you have Steam configured to launch when Windows OS starts?

Why? I have never done so and never had an issue, (steam user for over 10 years).

What do you suggest I do?

So either the game has corrupted files, or your drive is corrupted.

Run disk error checking.

It said nothing was wrong with my drive, and I've already verified my cities skylines multiple times. ugh!! thanks for continuing to try and help.

Ok so launch the game now, does it run?
KUKI1245 Dec 25, 2024 @ 10:44pm
nope! I honestly don't know how something could be wrong as I purchased it from steam. All I did was try to launch it after it finished downloading and it just gave me that message.
