using xbox controller as mouse cursor on pc? windows 11

ive been trying to out if i'm able to use my wireless xbox one controller as a mouse for pc since i have my pc also setup to my tv, so i wanna game and do general browsing stuff at the comfort of my couch, i don't have a wireless mouse and keyboard. (also, i cant figure out if i can even use the steam web browser in big picture mode, or if i can, i don't know the buttons for it)

i know if i hold down the xbox button i can use the right stick to move the mouse cursor, but after a few seconds that just turns off the controller which is annoying.

Then i found youtube videos that demand i download a sketchy github file which, lol ♥♥♥♥ no.
Then i found some app on the microsoft store called "xmouser" which wants me to pay for it and again, lol ♥♥♥♥ no

and then i keep seeing posts and articles that claim steam can just allow that function by default, but it asks me to follow these steps: "Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings" which i guess is outdated because "general controller settings" just doesn't exist on my steam controller settings.

so is there a way to have my controller to act as a mouse cursor without downloading sketchy crap, paying for an app that may or may not work, or following outdated steps that take me nowhere?

However you can do that with Steam running and configured for that

Once in the desktop layout, I recommend setting the stick to a lower sensitivity for mouse movement. You may want to start at 100% and then go up or down from there.

Also under the controller settings is where you'll find Calibration and Advanced Settings. Click on that and set the the Joystick Deadzone to 2000 for both sticks. If you get joystick drift, increase the deadzone until drift stops. This will improve mouse cursor movement.

Look up Glovepie. It was originally for scripting chording glove gestures, but it became widely used for mouse and Wiimote and the like.

Though I think it's abandoned now.

all i see is the option to change the deadzone, nothing about changing sensitivity

scroll to the bottom for desktop and edit config and change the sticks sensitivity there
