Steam Link not playing sound.
I use the steam link to play games on my tv with a steam controller. A couple of days ago the sound stopped coming out of the tv speaker. Now it comes out of my computer speaker even after connecting to the tv. Interestingly, the steam link will still make sound from the TV speakers, but only before it connects to my computer. I know this sounds like my Steam Streaming Speakers settings changed, but I don’t think that’s it, and here’s why.

When I connect a different computer to the steam link, it doesn't make sound either. All three computers on my wifi network won't output sound through the tv speaker anymore when streaming to the steam link. If the settings on my computer were what changed, then the other computers would still output sound, but they don't. The issue is either with the steam link or the speaker, and the speaker still works for everything else. My best guess is that there was an update, either to windows or steam, to how sound is streamed.

I have already turned my computer, the speaker, and the steam link off and on again. I have already checked my Steam Streaming Speakers settings. Please let me know if you have a similar problem or any potential solutions.

if the link menus make noise yet, then its the host
try steam beta on the host pc
steam -> settings -> interface -> beta client = beta -> restart steam

pick the subforums for other device types

I already tried using the steam client beta and the steam link beta. It did not solve the issue. The host is not the issue, as three different computers that all worked previously have stopped making sound.

Yea IDK what to do either. No matter what I do on my PC or within Steam Link I could never get audio from GTA5 or RDR2

if steams streaming speakers drivers are installed
grab them from github
https://github.com/AshVance/SteamLinkAudioDrivers

some games you need to select the audio device to use, and pick them
or the launchers may kinda pick which device to use and not obey when steam enables them

also disable all other sound devices in windows audio control panel
monitor, tv, headphones or whatever else you dont use

I found a solution. I reset my steam link to factory standard. After resetting, updating, and pairing it to my computer again, it makes sound now.
