Rockstar Game works fine in Linux
GTA5 Online is about Tobe retired soon anyways

It used to work fine. Now that R* finally implemented Anti-Cheat it is Windows Only.

I wouldnt hold your breath. It took them ages to add anti cheat. If anything the only Linux level support I see being made will be for Steam Deck only, as R* and Steam both openly stated they were working together to bring steam deck back into the mix because Valve reached out shortly after the change for deck users.

But I suspect R* will either say no to linux overall regardless of Valve and the Deck, or they will work with valve to whitelist the Deck and nothing else from Linux space.

Oh right yes it doesn't work now because of BattlEye, I forgot. Oh well.

Use an SSD and put Win10 64bit 22H2 on it for Rockstar Games perhaps

Yes the reason GTA5 no longer works under Linux normally is due to the BE anti-cheat

You could still mess around with GTA5 story and mods along with GTA-ONLINE-RP via FiveM

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Rockstar already refused to support Linux.

The reason why a lot of devs do this is because kernel-level anti-cheats for Windows don't work properly on Linux, those anti-cheats can't run as root like they're supposed to, they run as an unprivileged userspace which means it has limited access to the system, which defeats the whole point of the anti-cheat.

So rather than fix it themselves, they just block it entirely by having the anti-cheat block Wine.

Just play FiveM . Much better. Drifting is super fun.

FiveM doesn't work on Linux unless svadhesive (FiveM's anticheat) is disabled which means any server that uses it is a no-go. They would have to join a server without it and deal with cheaters, or use their own.

Same goes for regular GTA V servers, BattlEye can be disabled in launch options and I'm pretty sure community servers can disable it, at the cost of having to put up with cheaters.

This is the same multibillion company that still decides to use peer to peer technology for multiplayer just because it saves them money. what do you think

Why they waited until 2024 to implement something like BE is beyond me. Like at this point, who cares.

Overall, why the F is anyone still playing the vanilla GTAO anyways.

That defeats the whole purpose of being a Linux user...
