Wraith stealth cooler
Would the wraith stealth cooler be good for the 5600x without overclocking?

Why? Just get a CM Hyper212 Black Edition, Arctic Freezer 34 eSports DUO or similar. Very quiet coolers and will keep mid range CPUs running as cool as possible at all times.
I once sought after the Wraith cooler until I saw its CFM specs. :badluck:

If that's the one that was supplied with it then yes. They will not ship with a cooler that is not suitable for the cpu.

The cooler delivered with the processor it's absolutely enough for normal use. (I used it)
It is just a bit more noisy than "be quiet pure rock slim", which is also enough to keep the 65W processor below 80C even on long max load.

Wraith Coolers are trash like the old school stock Intel coolers

Any 30-40 $ tower shaped coolers would be huge improvement

It should be fine. It will probably reach a tempeture around 80-85C at max load, so under normal use it should be fine. If you plan on doing anything very intensive, you can turn the clock down a bit, or undervolt it.

Even so, very good CPU air coolers are very cheap upgrade.

Get a Thermalright cooler, they don't cost much but they perform very well

Yes Thermalright Peerless Assassin are very good bang for buck

I mean it should be. It's the stock cooler. C.P.U. manufacturers usually just won't include a stock cooler if they don't think they can't throw in a sufficient one. It adds to the cost of the product and takes up much more volume than the C.P.U. itself, so companies won't bother including a cooler unless it's sufficient to run the C.P.U. at stock specification.

Tech Guided shows that the 5600X reaches 87 degrees in starfield, a maximum of 84 degrees in cinebench and 77 on average in cinebench. The processor's thermal junction max is 95, so that's within spec and it shouldn't throttle. He does mention you might want a better cooler pending on your ambient temps. though.

I should mention that the SAMA 6P130 A.R.G.B. is only $10 on Newegg until the 23rd though[www.newegg.com]. I'm not sure how good it is, but $10 isn't particularly much to spend on a tower cooler design and I'm pretty sure any aftermarket tower cooler will outperf. a wraith spire. With a bigger 130 milimeter fan it will probably run quieter too since the R.P.M. doesn't have to ramp up as high to move the same amount of air as the smaller 92 millimeter fan on the spire.

I'm really only mentioning it 'cause it's pretty rare to see an aftermarket tower cooler for less than $15.

Is the 5600x even a good enough C.P.U. to merit a $30-40 aftermarket cooler? I kind of doubt it: A 5700x is a stronger processor than a 5600x in the first place, and it comes with a Wraith Spire in the first place which is somewhat better than the Stealth since the heat sink is taller. We're probably not even beginning to consider an aftermarket cooler as a worthwhile purchase until we get to the 5700x, unless maybe you bought your 5600x a long time ago, especially if you're not overclocking.

Also, I generally read that A.M.D's. stock coolers were held in higher regards than Intel's old stuff, though I suppose it depends on the specific cooler in question and which C.P.U. it came with (since somewhere along the line A.M.D. downgraded their stock coolers by changing the fan and removing the copper slug). I couldn't really tell you how much better though. It's not like you can cross-test the coolers on the same C.P.U.

I disagree, always used them and never had any issues. Currently using wraith stock cooler on my 5700x and as always, no issues.

Wraith Stealth is only included with 65W chips because that's all it can really handle, it'll keep them from overheating under most circumstances but it's still not ideal

CPU will be capable of higher boost clocks the lower its temperature is, so keeping it below 60 degrees under typical loads as often as possible is ideal

There is a difference between "works" and "works well"

I could see maybe if the temps are not ever hitting like 75-80*C+ in anything, then sure, you're fine. But a beefier cooler would generally do much much better and aren't expensive. One the issues with Wraith is too noisy. I don't want cool and then noisy when hot in order to cool it. I want to able to run CPU + GPU at or near their max all day long and yet still have low enough temps and little to no noise. Why wouldn't people want that?

the wraith cooler is fine for cpus under 60w max tdp
but the newer lineups can go well over double their rated tdp

i dont know why amd doesnt rate their cpus by max power draw, instead of idle/low performance power draw

HAHAHAHAHA.....no son you have issues.....being on a 5700x that will hit boost speeds of 4.65ghz ALL CORES i can tell you it drops off 200mhz for every 1 C over 72C the CPU goes......

for you to even run that cooler without having issues there is no way your running PBO......and without PBO you are leaving a lot on the table of what that CPU can do.... running that cooler with PBO will let maybe 2 cores boost to speed before falling off in less then 4 minutes....my CPU will never come off 4.65ghz for all 8 cores NEVER

FYI for you to hit real PBO numbers you will need a dual tower cooler like a thermalright assassin .....i have the frost tower from thermalright and its really the assassin tower with better fans.....it was a 35 dollar cooler

5700x never came with a CPU cooler.....5600x sees a good boost in a new cooler when tweaking PBO......
