Streaming Steam client itself
I know it's possible to stream games from another computer on LAN but is it possible to stream the Steam Client itself?
If so, how?

I have several workstations in my home LAN; one of them has much better hardware than the others, but it's in a not-so-easily-accessible place and I use it mostly as server.

I installed Steam on it and I use it to play using Proton (it's a Debian machine).
Now I took habit to connect from another, better located, machine and stream games.
This works quite well also with modern AAA titles.

I still need to go in the basement whenever I want to install a new game, though.

Is there an easy way to remote-control Steam client itself in order to install/remove games and, if needed make parameter adjustments?

yes, with link hardware and some link apps, you can start streaming in desktop mode
but not all support that

one workaround is to add explorer.exe to steam as a non steam game and run that for desktop mode, but depending on the client, it may not like changing focus to steam client

if you want to install games remotely, you can use steam mobile app or any web browser and browse your games library and install games to the host pc using that

You can use Steam Link to do so. It streams the Steam Client in big picture mode by default. If you aren't looking for an in-house solution, I'd go for open-source streaming apps. One of them was called "Moonlight" I think.

not all steam link clients will support desktop mode
on pc, winkey is taken by host pc, not sent to the streaming host

steam link hardware and android apps can start in desktop mode, since their os will not take over winkey or any other function keys

Thanks.
Steam Link seem to be exactly what I need.
Everything else I can do through `ssh`
