R9 Fury X Titan Killer ?
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/radeon-fury-x-beats-geforce-gtx-titan-x-and-fury-to-gtx-980-ti-3dmark-bench.html looks like AMD delivers a product to take on the GTX980TI and it may be 200$ cheaper is it worth the upgrade? running a GTX780TI but the CPU is an IvyBribge so it might bottleneck, also i don't game at 4k (i'm not paying 700$ for a monitor) and were the hell do you put the waterblock if you have a case running 8 fans already? the aircooled vers runs at 60 deg supposedly, while under load my 780 stays on 60 deg

Let's wait for more benchmarks before making any decision.
bang for buck but at higher power consumption?
Probably fake numbers. But who knows, have to wait and see. But i'm sure if AMD makes gpu's as powerfull as the titan x or gtx980ti, they will most likely consume ~50% more power...
Because thats how amd works. They use older tech and have to push more power to compensate, resulting in higher heat. But hopefully that will change, competition is good for the consumer. I do think that nvidia could also try harder and release even better cards, but they have no reason to, because they are already at the top.

Fury X comes with its own water cooling, which say a lot about the heat and power consumption.

Also it only has 4GB VRAM. Even though with HBM it's not very tempting honestly.
I find no interest in the Fury...a day late dollar short for AMD again!

The 970/980/ti/TX also have their hybrid variant
AMD recognized the demand for such product and they've made it somewhat more affordable.

Would you rather have a Pentium II 5GHz or a I7 3.4GHz?

Fury is already showcasing quite amazing performance with only 4GB HBM , it is putting 12GDDR5 and below to near shame at a lower price point.
Not interested in the over abundance of heat and typical power pig requirements associated with AMD products...SSDD.
as long as they keep the heat down 60 deg at idle is too hot, i had an R 290 and it ran too hot even in my case, bought the GTX780ti it runs cooler and smashed the AMD card
My GTX 980 is as cold as a cucumber at idle and rarely ramps up fans at load.
not personally into the fury x might once it comes out and we find out all of its quirks but, i will say the the cooler on it is for the purpose of overkill and reportedly dissapates twice the wattage it uses
Fury X dosen't have hdmi 2.0 which is a big issue for 4k gaming. 99% of 4k tvs need hdmi 2.0 and don't have displayport

More on the matter but WARNING take it with a grain of salt ^.
Today got e-mail with real testing results (under NDA). I want to say, that should be boulder, not grain.

Well they invented a new kind of memory that's stacked in 3D and has massive bandwidth, they're using a new architecture and a die shrink. This has to be one of the biggest step forwards in GPUs in a while. Not only is it not old tech, in the case of memory it's revolutionary tech.

That is Micron's tech. Hynix, AMD, etc only uses it.
