Because thats how amd works. They use older tech and have to push more power to compensate, resulting in higher heat. But hopefully that will change, competition is good for the consumer. I do think that nvidia could also try harder and release even better cards, but they have no reason to, because they are already at the top.
Also it only has 4GB VRAM. Even though with HBM it's not very tempting honestly.
AMD recognized the demand for such product and they've made it somewhat more affordable.
Would you rather have a Pentium II 5GHz or a I7 3.4GHz?
Fury is already showcasing quite amazing performance with only 4GB HBM , it is putting 12GDDR5 and below to near shame at a lower price point.
