Why is my RAM at this (low) frequency?
Pic: http://i.imgur.com/EaGoJ0n.png (666 Mhz)

My RAM actually has 1600 Mhz (DDR3, cl7). And it's from Corsair Vegeance Red. I have 16 GB.

Is it normal to have the RAM's frequency lower? (and it raises when I use intense applications / play games?) Or not?

Any help?

Thank you in advance.

Try looking in your bios somewhere, there is usually an option to change what frequency your ram runs at, with that said 666Mhz is strange figure.

:\ I don't know how to access / navigate / use the BIOS. I'm afraid to try something. I don't want to make my system unstable.

You usually access by tapping DEL(ete) as your pc is booting up, at the least it should say what key you need to press, once in your BIOS you can't really mess anything up, whenever you try to exit the BIOS it will ask if you want to save and exit, if you just click exit without saving then it will undo any accidental changes you think you have made.

Navigating the BIOS isn't as difficult as you may think, you usually have to use your arrow keys and enter to select an option, your RAM settings may be under a section called system, advanced, A.I. Tweaker or something like that (mine is under overclocking). Once you see the part where you can adjust RAM it will usually say obviously RAM Frequency, if you select this it should then give you an option to change the frequency (to 1600mhz in your case), once you do this just exit and save.

I may be able to help you better if you know what BIOS you have?

667 (x2 = 1333) is just the default.
Apply the DRAM mode = XMP in the BIOS (aka Intel Xtreme Profile)
To apply the correct Frequency / Timings / Voltage

And how do I go back / to previous page in the BIOS? (also, exit) Which is the key?

How can I know what BIOS I have?

My specs are:
> i7-4790K @ stock
> GTX 980
> 16 GB RAM @ DDR3 @ 1600 Mhz, cl7
> 250 GB SSD (the system is running on it) Samsung 850 Evo
> 2 TB HDD Western Digital Black Edition @ 7200 rpm
> Windows 7 Ultimate
> motherboard: Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3

Apply what?! Do what?! o_O Sorry, I am a rookie. I never went in BIOS by myself. I need better explanation :\

And I have to also apply the correct timings and voltage, besides the 1600 Mhz frequency ? o_O

Check your Motherboard Manual; it tells u everything u need to know.
Look for DRAM/XMP or Intel Xtreme Profile and enable this in the Overclock section.

Not sure about button/key navigation (most just use a mouse now); as for "Save & Exit" in BIOS that is usually F10

And if I apply the DRAM / XMP (or Intel Xtreme Profile), will the 1600 Mhz frequency (+ correct timings + voltage) be automatically added? No need for manual override?

XMP will apply the correct Frequency / Timings / Voltage
That's what it is for. It auto-fills these entries for you, based on a onboard ROM profile within the RAM.

Oh, and what's the key for exiting the BIOS -- without saving?
Bad 💀 Motha Jun 12, 2015 @ 1:25pm
It should just be ESC key and it ask you if u wish to Exit without saving.
Or you can do it other ways, Reset button on your Case, or CTRL+ALT+DEL
