People still on 23H2, be careful.
Hey,

Since 24H2 is a disaster I paused my updates "forever" (until 2034), but every time I boot up the PC I always check Windows Update status to make sure it's still paused.

Well, this morning it unpaused itself and was checking updates.

Immediately unplugged the ethernet cable and rebooted the PC, now it's paused again.

I'm not sure what Microsoft is trying to do here, I definitely did NOT click "resume updates".

So if you wish to stay on 23H2, make sure you check Windows Update every time or you might get an update done behind your back.

Thanks for reading.

Windows Home editions were always garbage why use them?

Pretty sure Microsoft stopped pushing 24H2 and only offers it to people looking for it. I have three systems, all on 23H2 and none of them is being offered 24H2 via Windows Update.

Wait hold on... I'm pretty sure I used to be able to spam "Pause updates for 7 days" and it would let me pause it for months at a time, but now it only lets me pause once and says "Get latest updates to pause again"

Did Microsoft seriously nerf this feature?

When did that happen? Was this a while ago and I've just not been paying attention?
(Windows 10, btw)

No idea, I only started pausing in December of last year because of 24H2.

no issues with 24h2 here also.

No trouble with 24h2 for me also. I did have to re-install DirectX though, but that's all.

re the 'Pause updates' thing - mine gives 4 options - 'Pause 1,2,3 or 4 weeks'.

My first experience on 24h2 wasn't very pleasant but after they forced the update on me about a week ago everything is running smooth so far.

I have not found 24H2 a disaster at all.

The biggest issue was that they changed a number of network defaults that had me searching the internet for solutions, but apart from that it's been fine.

It tried that on me the other night so I disabled my internet. When it rebooted there was no update. I'm still on 22H2 and have been since I disabled updates in 2022.

Windows in place upgrades have been terrible since like windows 95 to 98.

Definetly hold off on doing it until you can clean install the OS from an installer
