pcie 3 x16 vs x8 for AMD 7900XTX

Currently I have a GTX 1080 which is about 280 mm and fits in the first slot of my mobo Asus z490e. I am getting 7900XTX but there is not enough clearance in my case (Ultra Modded Q500L) because of the PSU. Wondering if running this bad boy in x8 pcie 3 is going to make a difference? I don't see any difference at 4k for gtx 1080.
Option 2 is to maybe get a pcie riser cable but I doubt the card will align in the case because it has to go in the pcie slot.

Linear scaling on 5% perf. on a $1000 card is $50 exactly. At this point you're really only buying a 7900xtx if you can get it for a good chunk cheaper with the 5080 F.E. occupying the same price point, and in most cases cost more than that which is why I didn't suggest it. Besides he might like the design of his existing case.

So the 7900xtx isn't coming. It turns out that the chinese seller on amazon 'Hoyee' has been scamming people by sending them lockets instead of gpus. Thankfully I got my refund from Amazon. The thread is here:

May've dodged a bullet there anyway. 9070 xt rumors are all over the place, and some sources are reporting that it's going to be a 32 gig. card. That would be an embarrassment to Nvidia in any case, unlikely as though it may seem. Launch is only a couple of weeks from now[www.tomshardware.com]., and it's probably going to be significantly cheaper than Nvidia's offerings.

Wouldn't spend a grand on a 7900xtx at this point. Might as well have bought it on launch day. I'd rather play the 5080 lotto at that price.

Sapphire nitro+ 7900 xtx.
The card runs in 60s C compared to gigabyte 1080 which was hitting 75C. But it is drawing 400W. The room feels like a heater. I had to open up the windows and turn off my winter heating.
