Windows Driver Support for Steam Deck OLED (Controller, Audio, GPU)
Valve, why is the Steam Deck’s built-in controller not properly recognized in Windows 11? Right now, it requires third-party software like Handheld Companion just to function as an Xbox or PlayStation controller. This is frustrating, especially for users who want to play games or use apps like PS Remote Play, which refuses to detect the Steam Deck’s controller at all.

Additionally, audio, GPU, and card reader drivers should be natively supported by Windows Update, just like any other PC hardware. Right now, after every Windows installation or update, users have to manually download and install drivers instead of having them automatically installed via Windows Update.

Valve should work with Microsoft to integrate Steam Deck drivers into Windows Update so that:
1. The controller is recognized properly without third-party software.
2. Essential drivers (audio, GPU, card reader, etc.) are installed automatically.
3. Users don’t have to manually reinstall drivers after every update.

Steam Deck is marketed as a PC, so it should have proper plug-and-play driver support like any other Windows device. Please fix this!

windows generic drivers cover a wide variety of hardware, but not for specific hardware

they are often just good enough til you get the correct drivers
If you really want the Steam Deck to perform as intended then clean wipe it and put latest version of SteamOS on it. Plus WinOS will take up way too much disk space due to all the extra bloat
never leave windows generic drivers installed, nor rely on windows update to give you drivers, not to mention said drivers are almost always out of date.

always get them from the manufacturers websites and keep them updated, assuming the driver doesnt have an issue/bug, to keeping you waiting before updating said driver.
