Should i get a gaming laptop or ROG Ally?

Hey guys, so I want something to play while staying at my grandmas or second house.

It would be more of like a secondary device to play games on since I currently have a beefy desktop at my home, so I don't need it to play all games at 1080p max graphics or anything like that. My budget is around ~400€, I've been looking at the second hand market, and I've seen an MSI laptop with an i5 9300h and 2060 for €380. Amazon also sells a used ROG Ally Z1E for €420.

I honestly don't know what to do, I like the rog ally, but I'm worried that it won't play that many games moving forward. The 2060 is pretty low end for today's standards, but I feel like it can handle modern games at 1080p (or even 720p if necessary) at low/mid graphics 30 fps.

I have a TV (old 1080p) on both houses and I also have a really good controller, so I won't I need to carry that many things. I like to play in bed, but I have EXTREMELY sweaty hands so... idk i don't think that itll be comfortable to hold a handheald like that. Maybe I'm wrong tho y'all lmk

Depends on your budget.

A proper laptop for gaming is usually pretty expensive. Don't expect to pay less than $1000.


For handhelds, the Steam Deck is still better than the knockoffs. If you get the ROG stuff, make sure to stick Linux on it.

eh i dont want to use linux. ill mainly play story mode games on it for sure, but i also want to play fortnite, rocket league and gta on it with my friends from time to time..
dont get me wrong i love linux but if i cant play all my online games on it then im not using it

Look for used console for $150 and get some $7 used game blurays and leave it at grammys

no way i thoght that a 3050m would be miles better than the rog ally. hmm the ally might be a better choice yeah
