i always thought you can use multiple hdmi cables on a single GPU, i guess im wrong.
so i need a hdmi splitter and thats the only way?

I made sure my GPU has 2xHDMI port for that reason. AMD has few good choices but for Nvidia I think only ASUS gives 2xHDMI and only for selected models.
You can also try DPI to HDMI cables.

what gpu you using?

mine has, 2x hdmi and 2x display ports.

im running 2 50in tvs on it currently.

Most 'normal' GPUs I've looked at in the past few years have been 1x HDMI, 3x Display Port

If you MUST use multiple displays for your PC that lack DisplayPort on them. Then buy what's called ACTIVE DP to HDMI Adapter. The Adapter would be DP male to HDMI female. Allowing you to properly use HDMI displays via hdmi male to male cable on systems that primarily offer multiple DP on them, such as Desktop GPUs

i got a 4070 super.. the other ports seem smaller than the first one, im not sure

Not smaller just shaped slightly different.

Yes most GPUs since GTX 10 series are 1x HDMI and 3x DP.

Some varients had 2x HDMI and 2x DP such as some from Asus, MSI, Gigabyte because they wanted to provide a 2nd HDMI to help ensure the user could connect to HDMI TV/Projector and then also at the same time use HDMI VR Headset

PC GPUs tend to have 3x DP because mostly all high refresh Monitors require DP.
