Nintendo Switch On A Monitor

My brother just bought a AW2725DF on sale, and plans on using he PC and Nintendo Switch on it. I found it doesn't have an audio-out jack, nor does it have built-in speakers. With his current set up, he has his desktop speakers hooked up to the audio-out jack on his monitor so that he gets sound on both PC via DP and on Switch via HDMI. He doesn't want to have to unplug his speakers jack from his PC and plug it into his Switch or vice versa when switching between the two. What if he plugged a USB-to-3.5 jack adapter into one of the monitor's USB ports? I doubt that would work, I don't have a solution that comes to mind.

Maybe he could get a Y splitter (or switch) for the speaker cable so he can plug both devices into the speaker. If that wouldn't work I might get an extension audio cable to plug into the PC, so you can swap the speaker audio cable from PC to switch more conveniently.

His other option would be to use bluetooth headphones or get a second set of speakers.

I'm not sure what plugging the switch audio cable into a USB adapter to plug into a monitor with no speakers will accomplish. How is the signal going to magically go from the monitor to the speakers?

Could buy or build a cheap audio selector switch if they're both using 3.5mm jacks

the monitors usb ports will only work as a usb hub from the pc or whatever usb source is connected to it
if you use a usb audio adapter, it will only be for the pc, not the monitor

you could use the pc audio input to do that, just do not use windows audio cloning, that will add huge delays
use speaker properties and unmute its input, so the sound card will do the mixing without windows getting in the way

If the PC is on DP and the SWITCH is on HDMI usually should be able to leave Headphones or Speakers that use a 3.5mm Stereo connector into the Display and when you switch the Monitor between DP vs HDMI and vice-versa the Audio Out should change accordingly so both DP and HDMI can properly share the same Audio Out Jack on the Monitor.

What I would suggest is using the PC Motherboard Onboard Audio.

You connect buy 2x 3.5mm Audio Extension Cables, male to female.

Plug one into the Green Line Out on the PC.

Plug one into the Audio Out on the Monitor and then you can simply plug the headphones or speakers into the extension cable based on whether using PC or SWITCH.

If don't want to do it that way then just use one Audio extension Cable connected to Audio Out on Monitor to male plugging Speakers or Headphones into that much easier. Then again the audio out should change based on switching the Monitor between DP and HDMI for the available input.

A major reason I'd suggest that you use Motherboard Onboard Audio though when it comes to the PC is so the user can have better control over PC Audio Settings as this is very limited when using Audio Out via HDMI/DP. Plus would allow the use of a Mic if needed as well.

Ok yea I see that Monitor has a stupid design. They should have included an Audio jack as with most Monitors, they might not have Speakers but the audio out jack would act as Audio pass through from HDMI or DP.

Yes no way to do that with this Monitor. You'll have to plug the headphones into the device directly as needed
