That depend on the user, this is what I think will happen the very first day SteamOS3 is released to the public.
all those that tinker and have tested other OS because they enjoy learning new things will know about SteamOS3 because they are tinkers they love it and most likely spend most their time tinkering and researching up and coming tech or new software these will be among the very first people that install and test the OS.
Will these users stick with SteamOS3 ?
I guess if they have a spare PC's there is a good chance they will keep it installed on a system,
The ones that tinker that only have one PC most likely won't for too long because they will need to chase the next thing to tinker with ( the category a few years back I used to fall in)
Then you have the group of users who moan about how crap windows 11 is.
This group most likely will do nothing other than carry on moaning about how crap windows 11 is.
Then you have the users who use Linux and have done for years.
This group most likely won't bother they already use Linux and have done for years some of them may test it out to have a look.
Then you have the group who are waiting for steamOS3 to be released
This group is most likely the same group that moans how crap windows 11 is.
So I don't think MicroGrip windows 11 has any worry concerning the release of steamOS3
Because most people are just talk when comes to moving to a Linux based OS
Those who don't own a steam deck or never used a Linux based OS will most likely be spitting the dummy the very moment a game doesn't work.
I'd say there is a very good chance of seeing a lot of dummy spitting.
It's almost like you never saw the Steam Deck forum after it launched.
I never looked, should I look?
And do I need a large bag of popcorn?
Meh... Not really.
If you do, yeah.
I just assumed if you owned a steam deck there is a good chance you would accept SteamOS3 and any quirks that may come with it.
But that's my bad for assuming anything.
Even if it can be easier, there's a limit, even ChromeOS isn't perfect for what it's meant to be
What amazes me is the US version of windows 11 is more invasive than the Europe Version
I couldn't put up with the EU version.
How the hell on earth do the US version users they tolerate it ????
I just can't get my head around how anyone could or even would tolerate using it ?
That alone tells me how strong of a grip Miicrogrip has control over it user base, I am staggered.
HAHAHAHA.....linux work out of the box when most hardware makers wont release real drivers......HAHAHAHAHA.......just wow.......
as a long time user of steaming pile i will never trust Gabe.....been here since half life 2....hated every minute of them take a 30% on games like they were NintenDONT when they could have made half life 3 in the last 21 years......
I have bought my last game on steaming pile.....just like UBI-sucks, valve should get used to not owning a company.....
Microsoft are scum for thinking they have the right to demand an online account, and force unwanted antifeatures and updates and spyware, but iphone and Android really started the ball rolling on indoctrinating and conditioning a generation to accept not having any real control over a device or privacy.
Blackberry was ruined by trying to copy them, and I'll never forgive Apple for that.
But then, Microsoft has been pulling other stunts from the beginning.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Microsoft_Corp.
I mean I can totally understand why some of the US users have been moaning now and long before things started to make me feel fed up with windows.
I just used to think ahh another person just venting.
but I am honestly staggered.
He's said some really stupid things on social issues, but he was right all along on everything else.
No brain washed is a to strong of a word to use, well the wrong word to use.
I don't know how I can word it without someone taking offence when no offence is intended.
so how about
It is the passive force of being the giant of the OS's to why the user base sticks with it?
via software.
I hope ya'll stay at 4% at this point honestly.
I might invest in Microsoft out of spite for the hostility this community constantly displays.
