Why does LFC randomly turn on on a combination of freesync monitor and Nvidia card?

I have a 3060 and a monitor that's non g-sync compatible according to nvidia control panel. Apparently this monitor has LFC (monitor OSD shows doubled refresh rate) which seems to enable randomly even if the framerate is in the VRR range. Why does it behave like this? And is there a fix other than buy a new monitor with g-sync module? I've tried modifying VRR range with CRU, but it doesn't disable LFC. Also, is LFC brightness flickering purely related to freesync implementation?
